As an owner of two Show Pros, I am a little biassed, but I think that Jeff Surratt's guitars are among the best lookers and sounders available today. This redburst one is just sublime.

Obviously a man obsessed with high quality equipment, and I applaud you, Ken! :)

I think the last few years have ushered in a new "Golden Era" of steel guitar building, and to our collective benefit.

My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

I must hasten to add that this is not my guitar, and I'm sorry if I gave that impression. It is among the latest to come off Jeff Surratt's production line.

Herb - I do own good quality gear, and unsurprisingly I enjoy all of it. I have a large number of 6 string guitars, amps, recording gear, keyboards etc, etc. Think I"m suffering from GAS.

Beautiful finishes, Ken. I'm kind of partial to the bluebursts on the ShowPro website. I see you have one - feel free to post a photo of yours and I'll do my best to fend off a possible G.A.S. attack! :)

Thanks, Ken...that's the one! I'll bet it plays and sounds just as great as it looks. My justification for "just looking" when I know I'm susceptible to G.A.S. comes from my Dad who used to say, "even a fat man on a diet can read the menu!" ;)

I am under strict instructions from "She Who Must Be Obeyed" that I am not to buy any more steel guitars!! I can't even smuggle one back from the Dallas Show next month as she will be waiting on the driveway for me to return, and will go through the car with a fine tooth comb.

I don't doubt it for a second Damir. Only you can capture the true beauty of a pedal steel with your camera. I know that my own Show Pros are things of splendour. My best wishes to you Damir. :D

It was a standard guitar too Paddy. No fancy embellishments or anything, just great wood, 710 pickups and expertly put together by Jeff. :D

Ken, you made a promise to the wifey before and broken it. You'll find a way of sneaking another home. Of course you could have it sent to my place in Bristol and I could bring it to the next meeting

If I find a nice triple 8 Fender Stringmaster, I could be tempted Roy, but I'm afraid that I have got to the stage in my life where 6 pedal steels are enough for me, as they are all quality machines. Wifey may spot your post, so I will deny all knowledge of your existence. I did smuggle my Telonics TCA500 straight into my studio, so I got away with that. I bought a re-issue Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean recently, and that one didn't beat my indoor customs officer.

Here's one of you Roy on my blue Show Pro at the recent steel meet.

Show Pro's

Post by Jerry Berger »

I asked Jeff Surratt a question about the pickup on my Show Pro and he responded very quickly with the answer. Excellent customer service is hard to find these days in any business. With the quality and craftsmanship that Jeff put's into his custom builds, (IMHO) he will be building psg's for a long time!
