I am looking to design some pedal steel parts and am looking for a Good Cad software to get this done. Thanks

You might like to take a look at QCad:

http://www.qcad.org/en/

I have been using QCAD for years on GNU/Linux boxes. The free versions that I have been using are 2-D which could be a deal breaker for some. I have run into some other minor limitations from time to time, but overall it has worked well for me.
