Bill, yes, 8 pairs and it had/has 3 pedals for that neck. The 16-string headstock is a marvel in itself. Mine has cabinet ends where the ends, the aprons and the necks are Brazillian rosewood and the top plates are birdseye.
From a scavenger point of view, the pickups, if they work, and the tailstocks, the pedal board and the legs have some value. The wood might be salvageable and would most likely be a better quality than current wood. The changers on those things are pretty rudimentory, that being little more than bar stock with a couple of holes as well as the pillow blocks, so..... <FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by chas smith on 11 September 2004 at 09:42 PM.]</p></FONT>

I think "RIP" is written on the case. In fact, I don't think it's a case at all. It looks like a tombstone. But the seller can't be all bad if he was willing to put all that pretty red ribbon so this fine steel would look even purtier for the buyer.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Duncan Hodge on 12 September 2004 at 06:36 AM.]</p></FONT>

For the steel guitar historians out there, anybody have a picture of what this poor thing SHOULD look like? Is it at all like that many stringed steel hanging behind Pete Drake on the cover of one of his albums? That thing looks like it has a 22 string neck.
Another question, how on earth does this sort of thing happen to musical instruments? I understand it's pretty sad that someone is trying to sell this pile of parts as a pedal steel, but think about it, not too long ago, this was a really cool guitar. How could someone have so little respect for a musical instrument to allow this to happen? If anyone has a picture of what it should look like, maybe you could post it or a link.
Thanks,
Gerald
P.S. Is this one for the ebay fraud dept?

Now we know what the apes were beating on...
That's a good one Wally!
By my calculations, in order for the "stretched limo" shown above to work, the fingers oughta be about as long as the connecting rods from a 350 Chevy engine.
PS: Whoever did that Photoshop job deserves a job with a production company. Great work!<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 14 September 2004 at 08:55 AM.]</p></FONT>

To get an idea of how a triple neck permanent was as new, go here and click the old catalog pic: http://www.planet.eon.net/~gsimmons/shobud/
The triple neck guitar there is "just" an eight string model, but the overall appearance is much the same. I have a better picture somewhere of Len Ryder playing that very same guitar, but I wouldn't know how to post it here.

Just look at the pics on Jussi's site and you will see that the steel owned by "Sonny Curtis" has the same tailstock on it.Makes you wonder if it aint a Sho-Bud after all.
If somebody would give it to me i would restore the whole thing.
