Check out the bidding history. After 40 bucks, it was between duanebeckershobud and golddust duke-ing it out. Could be two guys with late 60's PP's who want a pedal with "Emmons" on the front tongue to complete their guitars.

eBay is just an auction.
Strange things happen at auctions.
Sometimes great bargains, sometimes otherwise.
If someone want an item exactly like this, I don't know where they can find one.
So it's worth it to them.
I call it the TTFAO factor.
(Try To Find Another One)
On rare occasions I paid high prices due to the TTFAO factor.

When it comes to collectibles, it's a matter of how much someone will pay, pure and simple. There aren't a lot of these early models around, so if he keeps it any length of time, he won't lose any money.
Collectors and players are a world apart. A player might not pay over $2000 for an old Strat, Tele, or Paul, but collectors will pay ten times that for a nice one!

This was my pedal, I'm one of the Uncle Jons along with my son, of Uncle Jon's Music. When I checked the end of the auction last night I couldn't belive my eyes! It's on it's way to the new owner. It came with an Emmons I bought in '79, but I don't remember ever using it. I used a Goodrich that I still have. Over the years I kept losing that Emmons pedal in my house. I'd find it and then lose it again. This time I sold it. All's well that ends well, I guess.
