Strange Chrome Issue

Post by Richard Sinkler »

I check my computer this morning, and I have a separate instance of Chrome running with the URL of sportslogs/how-to-play-defense-in-basketball. The page just says the service is unavailable. I have never searched for, or gone to any site about basketball. Virus?

It'd sure make me suspicious. Maybe not as serious as a virus, but spammers do all kinds of gymnastics behind the scenes to achieve website re-directs. If it turns out that Chrome starts autonomously and does that, there may be more to it.

I'd be checking all the auto-start entries to see if there's anything I don't recognize.

Richard;
Go to the Options in Chrome and disable all extensions. Also, make sure your Chrome is up to date by going to Options (hamburger icon) > Help and About > About Google Chrome. At this moment, the current version is 45.0.2454.85 m

Thanks Wiz. I am current. There are only 2 extensions running, and they both have to do with Google Drive. It only happened that one time.
