iTunes lost

I tried to re-install iTunes on my PC with Windows 7, because I couldn't access the iTunes store. Not only wouldn't it install but now my old iTunes won't open and I get a box that says "The procedure entry point CMTimeRangeMakeFromDictionary could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia.dll."

This is all meaningless to me but maybe someone out there could make a suggestion for my more computer savvy son to try?
