DVD player for Win8.1 ???????

Post by Ron Whitworth »

Hello All;
I bought a usb dvd writer/player for my laptop
computer which I have had for a little while. It did not come with a dvd player but it does have Win 8.1.

Anyway, when I opened the Windows media player app
to play a dvd on the computer,to my surprise you have to purchase the media package from windows for like $110.00 just to make it work to play a dvd???

That is crazy - have any of you run into this problem?
What player did you download ( free or a lot less $$)
to play your dvd's on a win8.1 computer?
I did do a google search & there are several out there & I did download 2 of them but they want $$$'s to take the lines out so you can see a clear video??
Any help/suggestions will be appreciated please.
Thanks .. Ron

Try the free and popular VLC player.
