My Carter’s deck is carbon fibre, the front apron is maple and the rear apron is aluminum.

VERY cool. What does it weigh? Can we see the undercarriage? Last - why no carbon fiber pedal rack? I suspect cost factored in here but weight reduction would be a few pounds I would think. Look good!

When you used the phrase "prohibitively expensive" after saying you had the cabinet made I made the leap to thinking the cabinet is made of carbon fiber. Is it in fact a maple cabinet with carbon fiber instead of mica? If so still a cool choice.

How come there are no pics of the underside? Is the cabinet actually made of carbon fiber, or is it just wood that's covered with carbon fiber?

With so many different parts, maybe a John Deere logo would be most suitable. I always thought that company should've made pedal steels you could play on your tractor!

Nice looking steel, by the way!
The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being.

The fretboard has not been attached yet. Perhaps next week it will be! The deck is carbon fiber, the front is maple, the black is aluminum.

Funny that we still don't have a response to the questions…

1 can we see the undercarriage?
2 Is the cabinet made of carbon fiber or is it a maple cabinet with carbon fiber instead of mica?

A wood body guitar with a carbon fiber finish is no more a "New Carbon Fiber Pedal Steel" any more than a mica guitar is made out of mica. When we hear of a carbon fiber guitar, violin, cello, MSA, etc, we know what that means. That they're structurally built of carbon fiber. So we would expect no less of this one.

Unless this is some kind of special double-super-secret process, maybe.

Brian, I don't know what your scale length is but the Sho-Bud board is 24 inch, and the MSA is 24 1/4 inch, one of those will not work on your guitar.

With that heavy aluminum frame, you won't have to worry about it floating anywhere! That carbon fiber covering on the wood body looks good too!

It was looking good before, but the MSA neck really works in the design department.

Would still be curious to the finished weight.

Charlie it weighs in at 18.25 lbs. without the case. I have a gorgeous green gel pad ordered and still,néed to mount 1 pedal an 2'levers. It has airline aluminum legs.
