Can anyone tell me the suggested settings for my Peavey Nashville 112? I'm getting a helluva loud hum.
The only thing better than doing what you love is having someone that loves you enough to let you do it.

Settings won't help a hum. Check cables, and check where the reverb pan plugs into the "head" of the amp.

If it's the level control pot, just change it. If it's in the circuit, get ahold of Ollie at Goodrich, and see if he repairs them.
Carter D10 8p/7k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup, Regal RD40 Dobro (D tuning), Recording King Professional Dobro (G tuning), NV400, NV112, Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open G slide and regular G tuning guitar) .
Playing for 55 years and still counting.

RC, I dug it up. See the bottom of this thread here.
Ollie Goodrich is the guy behind Goodrich products (for all I know it was nearly a one-man operation its whole time).
I talked to him years ago, he's a nice guy

2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

I thought I heard at one time there were two Goodrich's, and one died. He was the guy behind the electronic gizmos, like the LDR2 volume pedal and Match-bro's, match boxes etc. this was a while ago and I may have dreamed this. Can anyone comment on this?

aha...perfect example of someone's ultra cool inside response meaning nothing to a normal person who isn't nearly as cool as you are, lane.Lane Gray wrote:Matchbox shouldn't hum. Now that Ollie is healthy I'd send it to him.
it's like the bandleader spewing all kinds of inside jokes on stage while the audience doesn't have a clue what's being talked about.
it's better to consider who you are speaking to and try to keep things on a level they can understand, since they are the one's seeking help.

Indeed, Chris. I forget that some people in here:
1: have lives outside of the forum and don't read every damn thing posted here, and;
2: might be new here.
RC, to tell you what the hell I was talking about, Ollie Goodrich (the guy behind Goodrich Electronics) has, for the past almost two years (or maybe more) been having health issues that limited his ability to keep up with work.
Sadly, Ollie tended to value secrecy in his proprietary circuits, and the schematics aren't available for his stuff, so he's the only one who can work on them.
I'm DELIGHTED to hear that he's back on the job.
For the record, ANY TIME I speak all "Insidery" (Denise's term, and she agrees with Chris, I do it too much. Sorry about that), feel free to PM or Email me and I'll be happy to explain what the hell I'm on about. I foolishly expect people to either know what the hell I'm talking about or ask me what the hell I'm talking about.

Lane,
No idea what this is all about. Now you know why I'm gun shy about posting here on the forum. I don't appreciate folks who have nothing better to do but knock someone. I consider you to be a gentleman in all respects and appreciate all you do in here.
Up until today I had a great amount of respect for the old timers in here. I'm not so sure anymore.

RC, Chris gently busted my chops for just assuming everyone knows everything that I do, and they DON'T, because I'm a nerd with no life once I get to the truck.
It's all good. And others have asked me questions that I just redirect to the Forum under my name, since I don't mind doing it. And, IMO, Chris did all a favor, since many one here already knew what I was talking about, but just as many DIDN'T, and it's only fair to offer explanation.
