Interesting device, hammer Jammer

Post by Bill Bassett »

Since I started playing steel many years ago, I have imagined a device like this. Anyone else? Well someone has done it for acoustic and electric guitars. Why not? I think it would be a cool effect. Comments?

They had a Kickstarter in June/July to get funding for production. They got 14k of the 50k goal. No idea of the status of the company today, I didn't search any more

After listening to the demo I can see why it didn't catch on.

That's an improved version of the KeyTar. I had one in the late 1960's. It had a black plastic body with white keys that looked like piano keys. It used a couple of rubber bands to attach.

OK, after posting on this, I decided to Google the device I mentioned...Nothing - It must be a very rare piece of equipment. Or, I don't remember how to spell it. I remember it was named partly for the keys and partly for guitar. Looking up KeyTar or keytar, all it shows is the synth instrument. That is not what I was referring to. I used all the keywords I could think of, and got nothing. Wish I still had it! I bought it at Bob Wood's Del City Music in the late 60's, a few years before I started playing Pedal Steel. Anyone else ever see it???

I wonder if the inventor/developer/player has ever seen Tommy Emmanuel play? (I think Tommy could do most all of this stuff without a dingus stuck on the guitar.) 8)
