Ideas for 4th pedal changes, E9th

I presently have the Franklin change on my fourth E9th pedal but don't use it. Would appreciate any ideas on changes I might add to the fourth pedal. I use the Day setup. Thanks.

Tommy White plays Day and the 1+2 string raise on pedal 4.

I'm an Emmons analog of Tommy. I have Emmons setup, and I raise 1&2 on P1, and ABC on 2, 3 and 4.
It makes a great change there.

I do the same. Works much better for me on a pedal than a knee lever.

Thanks guys, I raise strings 1 & 2 on my right knee right lever. I use it quite a bit.

Try putting it on the floor and giving the knee another use, like dropping 6 a whole tone.

A friend of mine lowers 5 and 10 to Bb on his zero pedal.

I lower 5 & 10 on my first ( zero) pedal. I never use it there any more than on a lever. Need to find something else to put on there.

Is that because you play the day setup...I would expect 5 and 10 lower should sit next to the A pedal

I put a Norm Hamlet change Larry Petree suggested. Works nice in combo with the A pedal. Lowers the 3rd string to G and raises the 6th string to A. Thanks to all of you who made suggestion, I really appreciate them. I've got them all written down for possible future changes.

Yes. I play Day setup. I had the Bb's on my LKV. Didn't use it there, so I put my F#'s to G changes back on there, which I do use. So I put the Bb's on my 5th pedal (my C,B,A pedals are 2,3, and 4) next to the A pedal. Still rarely used it. Decided to split my 2nd string lever into two levers to get rid of the half stop. So, my 1st and 2nd string raises had to go to the floor. I put them on the 5th pedal next to my A pedal. I did like the B to Bb alone to get a II9 sort-of chord. It was identical to the 5th pedal on C6, well, kind of. It was like the lowering of the G string on C6. That is the only thing I use the Bb for. I can live without the minor it produces with a split in the pedals down position.

I have flatting my 3rds, (G#s to G) on my fourth pedal.
Though not a standard E9 thing, seems logical to me.

Jim, I thought about that too, but:

1) There's already... four? ways to get a minor( I have a "lower B's" lever). More with different grips.
2) The F+A gives you a way out for switching between the major and minor of the same chord by relaxing the F lever.
3) A G natural only goes with pedals up.

I flatten my G#'s to G on my zero pedal on my 12 string ext.E9th. However this change is on the 4th
pedal on my S-10. I think I prefer it on the zero pedal though. Tennessee Lee

I recenty purchased a steel with a fourth pedal, and immediately added the change that Earnest Bovine uses. Raise 6th string a whole tone (G# to A#). I am finding it to be very useful in multiple positions.

1. Two frets down from open position, it works well along with A pedal activated and deactivated. Creates a great bluesy scale position.

2. Three frets up from open position, it works in conjunction with Es raised and A pedal. Allows for same cool sounding scale mentioned above but in higher position.

(Note: I also lower my 9th string a half tone on the same lever that lowers my Es. Helps when delivering these scales.

3. When Es are lowered to play B6th position, this pedal along with A pedal gives you the "Girl from Ipanena" lick/chord that is heard on a C6 pedal.

4. When Es are lowered to play minor chord, this raise gives a cool disonent passing note.

Try it, I know you will like it and find even more uses for it!

I also have the 6th string A# raise on pedal 0.

Another use : A# raise + A pedal + G raise on string 7 gives a full diminished seventh chord on adjacent strings 8-7-6-5 or 7-6-5-4.
