How Many Non-Pedal Steel Guitars Do You Have?

Post by Alan Brookes »

Including those that you play, those that you have stored away, those that you have out on loan to other people, and those that have in bits being worked on, how many non-pedal steel guitars do you have?

Include Lap Steels and Console Steels, but restrict this to electric instruments that you play through an amplifier and EXCLUDE RESONATOR GUITARS and ACOUSTIC HAWAIIAN GUITARS.

Don't count guitars that you've borrowed from someone else, or other people's guitars that you have in your possession while you work on them.

Currently... I think I have 6 or 7, but in the past I've had up to 20, never less than 5. For teaching I need a 6 string, an 8 string, a 10 string, and it helps to have multinecks with various tunings.

Then have him ship it to a friend in the U.S., and have the friend send it on. I've done that for people over in Britain from time to time, as I have both English and American bank accounts. I don't have a Canadian bank account.

7, including the one I just finished building, but not the next one I am already building in my head, and that I have already gathered most of the hardware for.

I had five until I donated one to Audie Shields in Nashville and it is a ThielSteel. So now it's four.
