opening email problem
I use Mozilla and had a change occur as of last night. To open email in any folder including inbox, I just had to click it once and the panel opened. Now I have to double click opening another page which I have to close when done. This just stated last night. I tried rebooting, no change. I wasn't in settings, but know knows what caused this??? thanks, Ron

Is this Mozilla's "Thunderbird"?
At any rate you can open any Mozilla product is "Safe Mode" by holding down the "shift" button when launching the application.
You'll see an option to "disable all addons" check that box and then "continue in safe mode".
If normal behavior returns, exit and reopen. Go to tools/addons/extensions and/or tools/addons/plugins and disable one at a time, each time checking for normal behavior.
You'll hopefully find the culprit that you can disable, delete or update.
Hope this helps.

- edit also click "help/about Thunderbird" and see what rev. you are running. 24.6 is current

I'm not clear on what you meant by "open email in any folder".Ron Victoria wrote:Howard, it is Thunderbird email. I tried your suggestion, but the problem continues.
The correct behavior is that one click is all that should be required to open any Tbird folder. If it's not doing that, something's wrong/corrupt.

Please tell me what version on Thunderbird you are running.
You mention "panels" & "pages" and I am uncertain what you are referring to.
In Thunderbird there are "panes", folder and message and a number of layouts, all user configurable.
You can access all of these options on your toolbar by going to "view/layout" and playing with the options. You can also toggle the message pane with your "F8" key on your keyboard to see if this gets the desired results.
I'm afraid this is the best I can offer at the moment.

h

I've always opened Tbird folders with one click, selected any email within a folder by clicking on it, and opened any email inside those folders with a double click.Ron Victoria wrote:Besides inbox and deleted, I have folders that I created containing emails. Any email used to open with one click. Now I have to double click and a new window opens with the email. To end, I have to hit the X to close it.

Not necessarily. I don't use the Message Pane, but I've had it volunteer to show up on its own several times. No rhyme or reason to it, and maybe the reverse can happen, as well. I know I didn't inadvertently press F8.Ron Victoria wrote:Did I accidentally hit something causing this to happen initially?
I knew what it was and how to get rid of it easily, but it seems Tbird can have a mind of its own on occasion. Kind of a nuisance, but easy to fix, and it's still my email client of choice. None of them are perfect, IMO.
Guess this falls under the category of "undocumented feature".
