song list with lyrics to a tablet?

Post by Bill Alexander »

anyone know if there is a site or app that i can download lyrics to songs that i perform with my guitar. not so much concerned about the chords as the lyrics. would like to have them alphabetical and select the song and have the lyrics in front of me on my kindle HDX tablet. i figured out the songbook tab on chordie and that is everything i want. however when i go off line i cannot access the songlist. hope i explained it clear enough. thanks for any tips.

Search for Lyric Pad on your app store. I have been using the "Full" version for over a year and have words and chords to almost 800 songs on it.

There are two versions of this (from different publishers). Lyric Pad, for Android and LyricPad for the iPad.

I remember looking at the LyricPad when I was looking for an app for my iPad but wasn't impressed. I looked at a couple others and was equally unimpressed.

Roll your own!

I download lyrics from multiple sites (or type them out manually), take a screenshot, trim the pic in Paint & save out in whatever format is needed (usually .png for me) there are multiple programs free that will allow you to save as .pdf if that works better.

The big advantage to rolling your own charts is that you control the font, font size & formatting.

How do you make changes to text formatting in an image?

Best way to edit them is to do it before converting it to an image file. Truthfully, I would just use a text editor if I wanted to make my own that I can control colors, fonts, etc...

I should have been more clear with the steps in my reply, my apologies!

assuming you are a windows user (I'm not)

1 - find the lyrics you want to use on the internet

2 - highlight the lyrics

3 - copy the lyrics to your clipboard (right click & select copy)

4 - paste the lyrics into your word processor of choice (all versions of windows come with Word Pad)

5 - manipulate the text (larger/bold/different font)

6 - use the print preview function to view the entire document

7 - take a screenshot (Print Screen button upper right corner of your keyboard)

8 - paste the screenshot into MS Paint

9 - Crop the image and save in whatever image format works best for you, or convert to pdf using any of the free pdf creators available

I know this seems like a lot of steps, but once you been through the process a few times it becomes second nature, and you get charts the way YOU want them, not the way someone else did them

Yeah, that's easy enough. I just thought the text editing aspect needed clarifying.

I use an app called Chordinator. it searches Chordie or other sites and downloads to my phone or tablet. If the song is in chordpro format, you can change the key of the song by using arrow keys.
