Aside from Jay Dee Maness, all the players were local unknowns. But what was far more important than their names, is the fact that there were players at every level of skill, from a newbie, to Jay Dee, and everybody in between. And everybody was equal. The newbie got as much time to play as Jay Dee. This wasnâ€™t a contest. It was a bunch of guys getting together and having fun.

So sorry I couldn't make it Saturday morning. I was disappointed. However, it was nice to see you again on Friday and enjoy a great meal. BTW, my carry on experiment with a D-10 in a soft case was successful both directions, disregarding the fact that it's was a 48# backpack, I couldn't have asked for more. The airline was completely accommodating. Yay!

That's good to hear, Joe. I would like to just be able to carry the legs on board with me, while checking the rest of my D10 below, but I've been worried that they would confiscate the legs, thinking they could be used as weapons. Ya think I'd be ok carrying them on board without the rest of the axe present to prove it's part of a musical instrument?

Jim,
At the risk of "thread hi-jack", I'll bet you could.
People are allowed to bring knitting needles on an airplane. For that matter, you could take someone out with a pencil. Just don't put the legs in a shotgun case.

In my instance, I asked nicely as I was boarding if I could put my guitar in the closet in front as you board. No problem. Is it a weight issue for your checked guitar? Have you looked into the light weight airline legs? If not, drop me an email.

Sure wish I could have made the jam. Don't get to LA often. Had to attend to the details of the gig I was out there for.

Kudos to Mike for carrying on with the jam session.

I would think that Skip Edwards and Peter Freiberger are hardly "unknowns;" rather, they are excellent professional multi-instrumentalists.
