How effective is VIPRE catching and removing viruses compared to other antivirus programs?

I had a free trial of Vipre 1.5 years ago. After two weeks of annoying alerts and clicking sounds as it checked web links and executables, I uninstalled it and went back to Trend Micro.
I now run a combination of Trend Micro + Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
