Just heard Norm on the Marty Stuart Show this morning. He played " Hold'n things together" Sure made that GFI sing. Really liked the tone on that GFI. Great job Norm.

Sure didn't Larry but the Marty Stuart Calendar on his Website says that it may be ran again at Mon. at 3;00 PM ET and Tue. at 1;00 am ET

The tone and artistry was pretty breathtaking. Nice twin picking in places. I played Norm's and Stubb's solos over and over. Here's one of the songs Norm played from another venue:

Many of Marty's RFD shows are available on youtube.com. Norm's episode will probably at some point wind up out there on youtube.

I saw him yesterday on the show. A very seasoned veteran who doesn't miss a lick! I to thought his tone was very pleasant, even desirable. Great steel player! Great band! Great show! I really enjoy the programs on RFDTV, especially the music shows with real pickers.

I have Brighthouse. RFD is on Brighthouse but its not called RFD. Its "FamilyNet". It was recently added, not sure when but I just found it about two weeks ago.

I had recorded that show from Saturday evening and played it yesterday. Nice that a steel guitar player was featured like that. But, it looked like he was promoting his CD so who knows why he was really featured on the show.

Marty Stuart is a musician's musician. It is obvious he has a love for the steel guitar...Kayton Roberts was featured before, not sure of any others..but they always give Gary Carter a fair amount of playing time as well! Just think if the show was an hour long!!!

It was great to see Norm on there...it was a pure treat!

Just think about how much music this man is capable of pulling out of his hat at any given moment. He's been the Stranger's musical director for something like 40 years? and most of the time the Strangers don't even use a set list, ala ET and the Troubadours, if my recall switch is working proper?

This band still kicks plenty of tail, especially when they are stripped down to the bare bones.

Besides being a great player, I have great respect for Norm Hamlet as person. In many ways--as a good person--Norm Hamlet reminds me of John Hughey. Both of these men bought several of my pedals. Neither of these men tried to get a free pedal,or a discount, because of their importance in the music world. I get requests-for free pedals-all the time from people who feel they are special, or playing with a special band. Let me tell you how you will KNOW when you are a special person and a great player. When you reach the point where it is not important to you to get something free for your name---that is when you are on the road to becoming great. I suppose there are those who are great players who still feel the need to have their ego stroked by getting something free. Beyond being great playes--I have great respect for Norm Hamlet and the late John Hughey. Just my opinion--because I have dealt with both men.

Here is Norm in the studio in September 2012 during the Buddy Emmons salute sessions in Los Angeles. Norm drove all the way down from Bakersfield to play for Buddy. Then, rather than stay in a hotel, Norm chose to help save money and drive back to Bakersfield that evening.

He's a true gentleman in my book, and a stellar player. Thank you Norm!

Norm is nothing short of awesome as was John Hughey. So many great players out there would be impossible to name them all. These two gentlemen plus Loydd Green are the reasons I'm into pedal steel. Norm you're the King!!

Norm is a true gentleman and a great player. When Haggard was here in Texarkana, I had a back stage pass and walked back behind stage and one of the guards stopped me and said Merle was busy at the moment and wasn't seeing anyone. I said, I don't want to see Merle, I want to talk to the steel player. Had a really nice 30 minute conversation with Norm and what a great guy.
Marty Stuart is an asset to steel guitar and our kind of music and always gives Gary lots of playing time. Also caught the show Norm was on and really enjoyed it.
