You need to download, not upload the videos, using software that converts them into a usable format. The software I know of that does this is an add-on for the Firefox browser, called YouTube MP3 Podcaster. It adds a small icon to the browser, next to the address bar. When you are on YouTube you can right-click on that icon and it offers several file format saving options. You choose the format, then save the file to disk.
Most modern computers are able to play a wide variety of media file formats. "Codecs" and other media players are available to playback Flash video, MP4s, etc. Windows Media Player can handle MP3 and several video formats.
Once you have downloaded and saved the file, you can burn it to a CD or DVD and play it back on your computer, or on a CD/DVD player that handles computer formats.
As for saving it in the standard DVD playback format, I don't know.
Aside from using a third party converter/downloaded, one might find a web site that offers a similar service. I can't recommend any at this time.
You should know that YouTube disapproves of all of the video downloaders and routinely changes their codes to block these add-ons from taking protected videos. Even the audio only downloaders get blocked every so often and the authors must alter the code and release a new version.

Since you haven't specified what computer and OS you are using I'm assuming that you have a PC and Windows 7.
To burn a video to a DVD as a file you can use Explorer.
NB! This means that you need a computer or a DVD-Player that can handle computer formats to play the video.

To burn a DVD that can be played on most DVD-player you need to have a program that can do this.
One of the programs that can do this is Windows DVD Maker

If you have any other computer and/or OS Please let us know...
