Audio help o a PC

Post by Ray Anderson »

I have a G72 HP laptop with Windows 7 and it seems to be a fair machine " but" it has the worst Audio I have ever encountered. It has no volume to speak of, I have it EQ'd to the max. I t doesn't matter even with headpnones....Yuck. Is there anything I can do to improve the Audio on this contraption. I was using a Dell Inspiron 8500 and the Audio was exceptional, I guess I'm spoiled. Help please! Thanks in advance.

Many laptops are notorious for poor sound. Small speakers are one problem. Some of the newer HP laptops come with "Beats Audio" which is a software enhancement to the PC's sound chip. Other vendors use software enhancements such as Dolby or SoundBlaster "MB". But, they cannot compensate for the crappy speakers.

How is the headphone sound? If its OK you could use external "powered" computer speakers.

If that is also bad, you could consider a USB connected "sound card" that you can use with headphones or external speakers. I've seen some of these USB devices for $20 or less - keep in mind you will mostly get what you pay for.
