BIAB files to Garage Band

Post by Terry Niendorf »

Does anyone know if you can move a biab song file to garage band, and how to do it. I find garage band more difficult to work with than biab, but their sequencer is really good. Song styles and drum patterns are limited, especially for country.

I think Garage Band will play midi files. Just save your BIAB song as a midi file and open it with Garage Band. I do this myself, but I don't use Garage Band. I just drop the midi files into my Studio One recording software.

I do that all the time. File/Save Standard MIDI File... in BIAB, then drag the file from Finder into GarageBand. The bass instrument is often an octave too low, so you have to adjust the pitch of the bass track +12.

The instrument sounds available in GB are better than BIAB. You can hear some unspectacular tracks I made for steel practice at:

If you have realtracks you can also drag them into the GB window and then play with all the instruments settings available

Thanks Rick, B0b and Edward. Edward your comment is indeed very interesting. Still a little foggy on the dragging and dropping thing, but I think I can get there. Thanks again
