Steel players in Southern California

Post by Abe Levy »

I'm interested to know how many steel players (pedal and non) live in Southern California. If you would be so kind - could you raise your hand and also say what area you're in?

Alternatively, if any body has an idea of how many of us there are, let me know.

Thanks!

Abe

There's more steel players here than there is work...
I'm in Rancho Park (West LA).

I'm a steel guitar owner in Los Feliz. Whether or not I'm a player is debatable. My own opinion varies daily.

Others may play different, but not better than Chas. Nobody does what Chas does as a fabricator of instruments and sound.

Maybe we should try to do a Southern Cali steel club that gets together once a month to pick together and share knowledge of the instrument. There is bound to be a place we could all meet on one Sunday of the month.
Just a thought.

I've been learning and playing for a year and half over here in Santa Barbara. I gig about every other month with a honky tonk band named Holdfast Rifle Company.

Mike Maddux has been trying to do just that.

Meanwhile, the dates for this year's annual So Cal steel jam have been set for October 5 and 6. This would be a good opportunity for everybody to meet each other, so I suggest you all come, even if you're not going to play.(If you do want play, send me an E-mail.)
