Open GL2.0 not supported

Post by jolynyk »

I have a game (Angry Birds), on my computer that my grand daughter likes to play.. Worked fine for a couple of years, but lately when I click on the game, a box comes up saying
OpenGL 2.0 Renderer not supported and OpenGL 2.0 not supported..
I think it has something to do with my Video card. When I try to update my Video Card, it says Video Card not found.. And when I try to find out what card I have it points to my Monitor.. I think it's an onboard Video Card as I have never installed one..

Operating System-Windows XP Home
CPU- AMDv Athlon 64x2 3800+
Toledo 90nm Technology
Ram- 4.00GB Dual Channel DDR (3-3-3-9)
Motherboard- ASUSTek Computer INC.Amberine M (Socket 939)
Graphics- Standard Monitor
Hard Drive- 932GB Seagate (SATA)
Optical Drives- HL-DT-ST DVDRAM USB
LITE-ON DVDRW
ARTEC WRR
Audio- HD Pro Webcam 910

I found some pointers on You Tube about restoring the Open GL2.0, but nothing has worked so far..
Device Manager does not list a Graphics Card, & has yellow Question marks beside Other Devices & Video Controller (VGA Compatible). Most everything else works, though when I move a box on my desktop, it leaves a trail, & if I move it fast leaves a bunch of trails.. so maybe it's affecting this also.
All help appreciated..

You need to find your drivers disk and reinstall the video driver. If you don't have that disk, go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and do a search for drivers and utilities for your motherboard (ASUS Amberine M (Socket 939)) and operating system.

I visited that page and nothing bad happened (no hidden iframes, scripted attacks, etc). As long as you maintain an up to date anti malware program that monitors files downloaded, saved, or run, you should be okay.

Please note that compromises do occur, especially on popular destination websites. Always expect the worse and be prepared to deflect attacks before they gain a foothold on your operating system.

FYI: I browse using the latest version of Firefox, with the NoScript add-on enabled by default, which blocks ALL types of active scripting, iframe injections, cross-site forgeries and click-jacking tricks. After I see what NoScript is blocking, and sometimes after displaying the Source code, for a quick look at the HEAD content, I then allow that website to run scripts.

Additionally, I use the Netcraft toolbar which displays a bar readout of the safety of each web page. And, I use Trend Micro Internet Security, which includes a hostile page blocking feature. Should I attempt to open a web page that they have detected as hosting malicious scripts, it will be blocked with an unmistakable warning/notice page instead.
