Problem with styles

Post by Larry Moore »

I am having problem with loading styles I was using with a older Biab .
I saved the style to my desktop and have it loaded into the Fav. I can play the song with new style.
But I cannot save the song and keep the style it always defaults to something else.
I have tried rebuild add to Fav.
Any suggestions

With the song "open" in BIAB and the "Style" that you want to save it with showing in the style box, go to the "File" menu and click on "save song with patches & harmony" choice. In that box, hit the "fill with patches" (you can also check other setting to be saved for the song here too) - hit save and the next time you open that song it should have the "style" you "saved" it with if I'm correctly understanding your problem.

Thanks Jim
Did not save the style.
I can play the song with the style I want to use & save like you said.
but when I go to another song and play that song and then go back to the first song a window pops up (cannot find style file and then defaults to something else).
it will save to any other style on the styles window.
I just don't have it in the correct place I guess.

Frustrated

Copy the "style" from your desktop to the "Style" folder inside the BIAB folder on your hard drive and do a "rebuild" of your "Style list". BIAB does not know where to find that style on your desktop and it gives you a default style as a replacement.

The style should be saved in your actual "BB" directory, NOT in the "Styles" sub-directory. Then do a re-build. That should allow BIAB to "find" the style.

Graham is correct! Just re-read my post and indeed it should be in the "BB" directory, not the "Styles" folder as I incorrectly wrote yesterday.

Thanks for everybody Help.
The problem is I can find the style and put into the chart, then I save as. Go to another chart and work.
Then go back to the first one the style is not saved on the chart. It says style is for read only.
But It will play until I leave it and come back not there.
where do you tell it "read only"

If you saved the file in the BB directory on your "C" drive, use Windows Explorer, go to BB directory, find the style in question and right click on it. Click on "properties" and in the box that opens, look to see if the small box beside "read only" is checked. If it is, uncheck it and you should be able to then re-save the style file and hopefully have solved your problem.

Graham, thanks for that info on the "read only" box.
As with all software packages, it's this kind of small detail that will cause a problem if your not aware of them.
