Anyone have the lyrics to this old Pee Wee King/Red Stewart

classic? I believe it's called "Backward, Turn Backward" (O time in your flight)...

I know the melody and chords from another band years ago but I can't remember all the lyrics and a guy I'm working with now would really like to start doing the song. I've always thought it was of of PWK's best and Redd Stewart did his usual outstanding job for sure...........JH in Va.

Thanks Jay, but that's not the same song... The one I'm looking for starts out with something like...

Backward, turn backward, O time in your flight,
Bring back my darling if just for tonight.
Bring back that wonderful moment devine,
The moment she whispered she'd always be mine.

..............Thanks, JH in Va.

Thanks Jay, but that site just gives .29 second snippets of the tune. There are a couple of versions on there but they have to be downloaded to get the whole thing and all I want are the complete lyrics so I'll keep looking I guess. I really miss Roy Ayers now, I'll bet ol' Roy'd have 'em somewhere..........JH in Va. I'm back! I just went to YouTube and they had a video with Redd Stewart singing the entire song on it so I'm going to go back and copy it from that.... Please close this and thanks again Jay......JH

I did a search for the lyrics you quoted and came up with Rock Me To Sleep by Elizabeth Akers Allen.
It's quite possible these are the lyrics, a poem set to music. Or it could be a variation of this.
