Emmons P/P Question
I just came by this Emmons P/P, its a 3 pedal, 4 knee lever guitar and I believe its an early 70s s10. Anyone know by these pics? I already have an ETS and a Sho-bud Super-Pro so I may sell it (not sure yet) but from past posts they seem to go around 2000.00 or so. I may sell the ETS and keep the Emmons. Any info from you Emmons experts would be appreciated.

If you're not strapped for cash, I would keep it. If it played well and was in good shape, I would be more tempted to sell the ETS. It all depends on the condition of the Emmons.

Hey Bob, if Your serial is 1611 the guitar is a '72,
and as for the rebuild I would really strongly suggest getting ahold of Lynn Stafford here on the forum, He's a good friend of Mine and one of the best when it comes to Emmons PP's...But in regard to quality I just picked up a '76 D-10 and I love the guitar

Since you're in his neck of the woods, I'm sure Tommy Cass would be a great choice for you. It most likely just needs some set-up work at best, at least from what I can see in the photos you've posted. Good luck with that Emmons of yours!
Thanks, Josh...I'm looking forward to seeing your Emmons sometime soon! Congratulations to you.
Best regards,
Lynn Stafford

Changer needs cleaning, its pretty gummed up. And, according to Tommy theres a few things that have been moved around, not set-up correct emmons either. Pedals also stay down when moved, bar needs to be pulled etc. Nothing other than clean/lube and put back together. Beyond me though, I just build resonator guitars.

Not to worry...your guitar is in very good hands with Tommy. I'm sure he'll only do what is necessary.Bob Sehy wrote:Changer needs cleaning, its pretty gummed up. Bobby Bowman and I did a strip, clean, and rebuild an 8/7 D-10 PP of mine and it was a job, no lie. Lots of paper towels, cleaning fluids, scrubbing with toothbrushes, polishing axles, etc. Took two days. But now a totally gummed up guitar plays like a dream. Worth the effort.
Didn't do any cosmetics up on top, the guitar has character.
