TN: Billy Johnson Remembrance and Benefit Gathering

Post by Tommy Minniear »

Nashville Tennessee Steel Guitar Association’s President; Jan Jones has asked that I post this event announcement regarding a benefit scheduled for Billy Johnson’s wife and drummer for Jim Ed Brown; Dina and family.

Billy Johnson, lead guitarist, harmony singer, and bass player passed in February of this year. He performed with Porter Wagoner, Connie Smith, Jeannie Seely, Jim Ed Brown and many others, and was often seen on the Grand Ole Opry stage performing with Billy Walker, prior to Walker’s death in 2006. Well-schooled in traditional country music, he played guitar leads with precision and soul. He was a highly respected and loved member of the Nashville music community. (Bio info taken from a statement by Marty Martel on his website)

The benefit is scheduled for Sunday afternoon - September 30th, 2012 from 2:00 pm until approximately 5:30 pm at the:

Long Hollow Jamboree and Restaurant
3600 Long Hollow Pike
Goodlettsville, TN 37072
(615) 824-4445

A donation at the door is suggested, but not required (please be as generous as possible).
There will be many artists and musicians contributing their time and talents in remembrance of this fine musician.
