Slowed Ending
Hi all,
I'm working on a backup track for Emmon's Blue Jade, the version in Scotty's book.
In that version (and maybe others) the ending slows down. I know the BIAB instructions that many of us have downloaded explain exactly how to do that, but I am so bogged down with "dumb stuff I gotta do" that I haven't had time to look it up.
Anyone know off-hand how to do that and willing to share the info?
Thanks so much,
Lynn

Lynn,
Right click on the bar that you want the tempo to start slowing down at. Click on "bar settings" on the menu that pops up. In the upper left corner you can type in a "% of tempo change" like -10% as an example or you can type in the "tempo change to" an exact number, say you were at 75 bpm, you could put 70 in that box and it would drop the tempo 5 bpm.
You can go to the next bar and do the same thing to have the tempo slow down again, as it will stay at the "-10% setting" until the end of the song unless you tell it to slow down "more" in the next bar. Example, you start @ 100 BPM, -10% would drop the tempo to 90% or 90 BPM, do it again and you would drop to 81 BPM.
If you use the "% of tempo change" and later change the master tempo setting it would work better than the exact number way as I believe the "% of tempo change" works off of the master tempo setting you have for the song, what ever it may be.
Anyway, it's "bar settings" that your looking for to do what you want.

Jim's advice is right on target. I too have better results with using percent rather than bpm.
Just don't forget to put the minus ( - ) sign in front of your entry, otherwise the tempo increases rather than decreases.

And.....you can change the "style" using the "bar settings" menu also. Do the verse in straight 8's and change to a walking bass shuffle for the chorus as an example. You have to do the "style change" at the bar you want the change to take place and then do another style change back to the original style or just like the "% tempo change" it will stay on the style you changed to until the song ends or go's back to the top.
"Bar Settings" is one of the real power tool's of BIAB.
