Peavey Renown 115
There is a Peavey Renown 115 for sale on the NH Craigslist for a pretty low price ($175). I'm over extended with amps at the moment, but I know that Lloyd Green has opined that this was the best steel amp Peavey made. Someone might want to jump on it.

Well got the amp today,it is absolutly mint..amp cover, 3 button switch. Playing with it and comparing with my 2 other Peaveys a 2-12 valveking and my MX vtx..VKing...good 6 stringer...mx has a12" BW.....rather mid range-y....MX and Renown sound similar just voicier with the 15" BW but I haven't touched the surface yet..able to play both channels with the f switch....but sounds great with a 6 string....don't need no twin reverb with this amp...need to compare it to my buddy's Session 400.

The Renown and MX came out at the same time (early 80's).
I played in a band where I ordered the Renown and the guitar player ordered the MX from Hedge Music in Powell WY, brand new.
I played Guitar and Steel and the Renown worked excellently for that with it's channel switching.
I now have a Renown 400 210W, but I orginally had the Renown 1-15"BW 160W.
Nice score!

Vincent, what kind of BW 15 is it? Ron had a newer 1502-4DT in the NV400 I purchased from him. I wasn't crazy about it in there. It sounds much better with the Weber Michigan I replaced it with. As Ron pointed out to me (and I already new), the Weber is rated much lower for power and potentially could have issues in this amp. But as long as one isn't playing Chalker-like C6th chords, I think it'll be fine.

Just last week I cobbled together a Renown 115. I had a dead renown 400 amp that originally had 2 12 inch scorpion speakers which I had long ago removed and reused in other amps. So, I got to thinking, why had this fine old amp died? I spent a little time finding the problem, (a bad ground was all it was) and finally figured out what to do. I swapped the head into a different Peavey cab, cut a new baffle board and loaded it with a new 15 inch scorpion speaker and what do you know. A Renown 115. I used it on Sat last week and loved it. Loads of power, loads of EQ control and aside from being heavey, it suits me fine.
