Would it be OK if I brought a six-string and sat in with the band?

Jerry,

Just to add to Russ' credentials, he is the most recent inductee to the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. His induction ceremony in St. Louis featured a video containing praise for his play from Ronnie Milsap, Larry Gatlin, Charlie McCoy, Connie Smith and several other high profile music folks.

With Russ and Herby, we'll have two Hall of Famers there, so friends, don't let anything get in the way of being in Saluda for this great weekend. Great friends, music and fun. How can it get any better?

See ya there,
Jim

Hey Kenny, sorry you won't be there but glad you have that gig...I bet it'a a lotta fun...give me a call sometime when you're in the musical city and we'll 'do launch'....in the meantime I'm looking forward to Saluda and my visit with Joe Turner, Chuck
Campbell, Jerry and all the 'boys in the band'. Since I graduated from high school just south of there in Aiken, it's always like a home-coming.

See ya'll soon,
Russ

I don't know this "Hick" feller, but I hope he likes good, loud EE-Lectric git-tar. Somebody said he was a little feller, so, "Rush," how's the weather down there? Huh??? Now from the old days, I hear the new staff band plays pretty tasty licks. I ain't about taste, I'm all about VOLUME---LOUD VOLUME.
So come on out. It'll be fun for some of you.

I wish I could be there to see my hero Russ but unfortunatly I have to take a welding test at a power plant in Augusta. Good luck to all the players and I hope to see everyone in February!

Kenny I only decided to go because you had to play in Nashville. I could never keep up with you on Highway 40 Blues, or anything else for that matter. Have a good time and show 'em how it's done at the Ryman.
Russ usually leaves the room when I play so I should be OK.

Sure gonna miss you guys this weekend! :(

Nervous thinking about playing the Ryman saturday! :whoa:

Tommy White will be there along with Pat Severs! :whoa: That will make it even harder to think about what to play!

It's tough playin the Saluda show with every steel picker watchin you and Mr. Hicks especially so i can only imagine what it will be when i look out in the audience from that stage!

Well see you guys at the next show!

Hey Jerry, now that i'm famous for a day, next show will cost you a diet coke and a hot dog if i play! :P :P

All the best guys!......kenny :) :)

Hey friends,

Sorry, but the following post is not from Russ, but from me, Jim Hartley. I was sitting at Russ' computer and didn't realize he had not signed out. If I could figure out how to delete it, I would.

Just a quick bump for one of my favorite shows. If you are any where close, come join us. Great show for a great cause.

Kenny, I'm a bit envious. As many times as I have played the Opry, I never got to play the Ryman. Enjoy it enough for both of us.

See ya soon,
Jim

Thx Jim! It would be easier if i had you on drums and the rest of the Saluda band behind me.

You guys make my sorry picken sound good.

I will do my best to represent the Saluda steel convention as best i can.

Hey Russ, any pointers on how to get the nerves to calm down other than the Crown Royal drink or drinks i'll have before i hit the stage? :whoa:

All the best to the great show you guys will have with Russ and Herby and all the pickers there! :D
