Besides good classic Country music, I used to own, and drive a ARCA late model stock car, and still belong to the Professional Bowlers Assn. At 71, still carry over a 220 average.

Like many other posters, I am into photography; see evidence in two following attachments.

In addition to the above, I am JUST finishing off my copy for the 8th Canadian Steel Guitar Show. I have also had photos in editions of the same magazine, covering Scotty's shows in 2009 & 2010, along with the "recent" Dallas Steel Jam.

I am also active playing "old boys rugby!" See the following great photo demonstrating how NOT to tackle a big guy! No, I didn't take the photo - I'm the guy in red shorts, a privilege reserved for seniors.

Okay, REAL hobbies:

- playing with my son, especially soccer and video games
- trying to overcome frequent attacks of GAS
- movies, esp. science fiction
- reading: paleontology, archaeology, astronomy, history, religion, geology, natural history, medicine
- any of the above that are also hands-on; lots of hiking as a result.

Aside from playing the PSG, I enjoy hiking and camping, as well as painting.

Here is my most recent 3' x 4' painting. My wife and I refer to it as "Genesis 1:3"

Beside playing various musical instruments, I like to work on them as well. I refinished my old Ibanez 550 electric guitar last year as a project. My Fessenden is a constant work in progress, and I will soon be restoring an old Fender silverface Bandmaster amp that I thought had been sold, but just found recently in my folks basement in NJ, which had some flooding from Irene. The chassis looks good, but the cabinet has swelled and warped a little. I may need to call Rick on this one, but I just love vintage tube amps.

We had a new pool and patio built recently, so swimming and grilling have been my two favorite hobbies this summer. I love to windsurf, and also enjoy skiing, blading, bicycling and hiking. I also like motorcycling (Honda Shadow 750) especially now that the weather is cooler here in TX. As for flying, I cant afford lessons, but I do like piloting the flight simulator at home. I also like astronomy and hope to get a telescope soon.

As well as Z.B.ing, SD10 & D10, I also like to play a bit of guitar and five string banjo, Uke banjo, plus a little tiny bit of piano.
I was well into motorcycles at one time and still have a collection of bikes:

1930 Douglas 600c.c.flat in line twin outside flywheel.
1957 Douglas 350c.c.Dragonfly.
1947/8 Sunbeam in line 500c.c. shaft drive twin.
1952 Ariel 350c.c Red Hunter with a 500c.c.spare motor.
Bits & pieces of a 1957 Triumph Tiger Cub.
Bits & pieces of a 500c.c. HRD/Vincent.
Although I should have retired three years ago, I'm still doing my mobile work.

I spend a lot of time restoring vintage guitars and amps. My shop has a backlog of those waiting their turn to be worked on. I spend a great deal of time searching for original parts for them all.

I recently recovered from a long spell of push/pull acquisition syndrome. It had gotten way out of control. I was able to stop at (wince) 10 of ' 'em. Now their cases are lined up like soldiers along one side of my practice room.

I like to do what I'm doing in my avatar. Hopefully it keeps me in good enough shape to lift my Dekley in and out of the car. Although at 60, I'm starting to feel like a Spine-O-Sore-Us from both endeavors.

Have have been fixing up old pinball machines for a number of years. Playing them too, of course. I also built and 12 1/2" reflector telescope (did not grind the mirror) and a 6" (did grind the mirror). I also still play ice hockey a few times a week and get to some Pens games.

Here are my two hobbies:

This is our 67 LeMans, all numbers matching 326/4-speed. Power steering, power brakes, power seat, power trunk, hood tach, orig paint and interior, bought the car from it's original owner in Jan 2010 w/54k orig miles. Added 4-wheel disc brakes and kept the original 14" Rally II Pontiac rims, radial red line tires. Car also has an extremely rare option (red plastic fender well liners). Also added a white vinyl top, wife and I and 13 y/o son installed it recently. We truly love our old classic Pontiac.

I have many interests, of which the most important are playing stringed instruments as well as sax.

But, I am also an amateur palaeontologist and go on digs often with SASAP. I have prepared a South African mammal-like reptile Lystrosaurus of 180m years ago. In the East Freestate numerous fossils of this kind were found.
South Africa is also the Cradle of Humankind, with the three best Hominid caves in the world at Sterkfontein caves about 50 km from Pretoria.

I am also a dance instructor.
I am also a member of the Astronomical society and fly RC glider models.

One offshoot of Palaeos is flying my radio controlled Ramphorhyncus, a prehistoric flying reptile of 150m years ago, from Germany.
The fibreglass model was made after a fossil which was discovered in die chalk quarries in Germany.

I play adult dodgeball. A couple of years ago, I was on an all-star team from Portland that went to Las Vegas to compete in the World Championship Dodgeball Tournament. We won, so I guess I'm a world champion at something.

Here's a photo of my league team (not the Vegas team) from which my profile photo is taken.

I'm also into wacky experimental guitar wiring. You can see my stereo split pickup pedal steel HERE. I haven't started winding my own pickups but it'll probably happen, eventually.

I play cümbüş, a Turkish 12-string lute that banjo-ignorant people mistake for a banjo, even though it sounds nothing like one. It's closely related to the oud. Currently, I'm accompanying a Mexican-American bolero-ish songwriter. We're going into the studio on Saturday to record 10 tracks. I'd like to eventually get some pedal steel in his mix.

I also like hyphens.
