Modern Gadgeteering

Post by b0b »

I must confess, I'm impressed by the modern instruments these kids are using, and how well they play them:

What is the bass player doing when he waves his right hand? What's that keypad gadget on the guitar? Cool stuff all around.

Bass Player is using :

The keypad on the guitar looks to be a patch changer of some sort.

It looks like the guitarist maybe has a KAOSS pad, and the bassist might be using the controller from a Soundblox device - that glowing ring.

They have a whole range of pedals under the "Hothand" name.

But once you break into it, there are ways to use Wii controllers and other wireless game controllers to trigger other things - ask a 14-year-old geek!

The bass player is using a Hot Hand effect by Source Audio. It uses a bluetooth ring to modulate an effect, a wah in his case. I dont think the glove does anything, but I may be wrong. :P

The guitarist has what looks like a Kindle attached to the body, that he custom programmed to control his MIDI effects via bluetooth as well.

It sure is high tech, but the music they are covering was created entirely on a computer using some pretty sophisticated software, so I guess they have to try something different to emulate those new sounds.

Yeah, me too. I'm looking around for something to sell, to pay for a hand-waving wah pedal. 8)

I'm still trying to get my mind around the keyboard-triggered auto-tuned vocals.D'ya think these guys will be on the Opry anytime soon?

I think he just has a sample assigned to each key. Since the lyrics are only one line, he can get away with that.

Autotune probably won't hit the Opry for another year or two. :\

Then it was sampled.
