New CD - "Bakersfield Gold" with Ralph Mooney

Just released, this 12 track CD (plus a bonus track) features songs recorded by Merle, Buck, & Wynn. I've tried to retain the original flavor of the original track on most of the cuts. Moon plays with me on three songs, and on others I alternately play an Emmons and a Fender 800, keeping a balance between my own style and the Mooney style. You'll get the picture by clicking the sound samples.

Live studio band: light drums, piano, bass, acoustic rhythm, fiddles, electric guitars, round neck resophonic.

The songs are:

[*]1. Streets Of Bakersfield
[*]2. You Don't Have Very Far To Go
[*]3. Sing A Sad Song (with Ralph Mooney)
[*]4. Close Up The Honky Tonks
[*]5. You Don't Care What Happens
[*]6. You Take Me For Granted (with Ralph Mooney)
[*]7. It's A Beautiful day
[*]8. Somewhere Between You And Me
[*]9. Foolin' Around
[*]10. Everybody's Had The Blues (with Ralph Monney)
[*]11. Cryin' Time
[*]12. Honky Tonk Night Time Man

And a bonus track = "MR. MOON" (this is a tribute to Ralph with Red Kilby doing a fine job singing it)

Here are six sound samples

Streets Of bakersfield

You Don't Care What Happens

Sing A Sad Song

It's A Beautiful Day

Everybody's Had The Blues

Foolin' Around

WOW!!!!!!! What a great CD and it was my pleasure to be part of this wonderful tribute to The Bakersfield Gold Sound of Mike Headrick and Ralph Mooney.

I have played my copy over and over again since I got it from Mike 2 weeks ago.

If you like that Old Fender 800 sound this is the CD for you!!!!!!!!!!

The song "Mr. Moon" was a real treat to sing while Mike played just like them Old Mooney Records on it.

So do yourself a favor and pick up a copy from Mike real soon!!!!! www.mikeheadrick.com

This CD came in the mail today and I played it driving over to Gulfport. I havent experienced chillbumps and pure ecstatic core tingling since, well, we wont go there. This is my number one steel CD now and I have a few. This thing is so tight, great sound quality, and professional that it is hard to believe what you are hearing. Great stuff! Get it, Get happy!

As a point of interest, Josh Grange, who plays steel with Dwight Yokum, just bought the Fender 800 I used on this Bakersfield CD. The guitar will be used on Dwight's forthcoming Buck Owens tribute.

Thank You, Fellows. I appreciate your support and replies.

Uwe, It'll be great to have you and Ulla back in the studio in January. Give my congratulations to Ulla for all the airplay and accolades she received from her last CD.

Also want to chime in about how really good this cd is. This is truly some fine work, especially if you have an ear for the west coast Bakersfield sound. Wanted to get a couple of cd's of Mike's work and asked him to send over another cd of his choice and Mike included his "Steels On Wheels" cd. Wow. Another really tasty treat. Know there has been some discussion recently on the forum about who invented "country rock",not going there, but all the material on the "Steels" cd is from the Chris Hillman - Gram Parsons song list. More really, really fine work.

Both cd's are so well done and are definately one's to add to the collection.

Thanks Mike

Mike, I enjoyed visiting with you at the convention. I just ordered the cd, every thing I've heard from you has been exceptionally good, including the guitar stuff. Also looking forward to hearing more from Red Kilby, a fine singer. And I hope Moon never stops picking.
