Rick,
I made it clear at one point that a little baloney goes a long way. The steel guitar industry is comprised of the same obstacles and pitfalls found in other enterprising outreaches that deals with a variety of personalities. If comparing some of the global activities to achieve certain advantages, I'd refrain from calling forum members bullies. It's that familiar heat in the kitchen, that separates meekness from those with independence of thought. To my knowledge, street language, and name-calling is far worse than anything written in this thread.

My PSG has no hidden potential. It just stands there on four legs like a deer in the headlights…a vulgar display of backbreaking cartage , a disgustingly expensive mismatch of dress and décor.
So I sit here behind it with all my hidden potentiality and discovered maybe it's not just a Pedal Steel Guitar. It’s a Potentiometer.

Bo Legg,
The steel guitar could be likened to those cartoon clips that envisage a rich elderly lady with pets of every description. They ultimately get caught up in various reasons to catch all the undue blame for the acts of the guilty "parties". One could say, designers who's hands are busied constructing facsimiles of vintage models, may remind an inquisitive patron to sort out every detail of workmanship. If the wealth of skillful guitarists should ever hone in on detuning, and cabinet drop as a means of producing a higher level of satisfaction in the bounds of intuitive musicians, it becomes thinkable that other improvements could be "waiting in the wing" for posterity to enjoy. I was once acquainted with an individual who stated in my presence, "If it looks good, it is good." I had to think about that for a while, hoping to give him the so-called benefit of doubt. Of course an optical illusion, and blind spot can cause man to fail to exercise judgment in discrimination. The lack of patience seems to be typical in this rat race to make ends meet at the pumps and elsewhere. Skimping and skimming is unwelcome, when it serves to detract from healthful approaches to solutions pending further studies.

If EVERY one is a [SKILLED] person, Who is gonna pick up your garbage, flip your burger, fix the pothole in front of your house, mow your lawn, help your kids across the street.drive the bus your kids rides on,Deliver that load of firewood when your butt is cold, who will deliver that hot pizza when you are hungry, who's gonna bring fresh warm bread and cold milk each am to your favorite supermarket,Who's gonna change your oil at the Jiffy lube,Who's gonna pick those fresh fruits and veggies you like to eat, who's gonna stand 10 or 12 hours a day in a retail store to sell you a shirt or a pair of shoes, this is just a few samples of lay people. It really seems you have a distain for lay people. Wonder how long you and other SNOB SKILLED people could exist without their services. How many Dr.s,Lawyers,CEO'S,CPA's etc will provide you the services listed above. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC.

Bo Legg,
It's just that Noah Webster didn't consider the ultimate ramifications of bizarre personalities with vivid imaginations disallowing any sequences of civility. In some instances, there are those who are moving from profound literature of the past, to a wretched profanatory turn down objectionable one way destinations. Mild humor seems to carry very well here on this forum... but may we have intervals of less chucklesome matters such as how to earn a living through musical pursuits? Finis

NO,NO,NO, I Don't agree.I have NO mechanical knowledge at all.And I learned to play the steel fairly fast,[being a 30 year veteran on sixstring did'nt hurt] Can play it,can't do serious work on it. The way you think,I love to fly,but should'nt be allowed to because I'm not a pilot. So why would it seem reasonable to [ASSUME] that steel players or [guitar, fiddle, piano, sax, trumpet, etc, have a certain level of mechanical knowledge. But a lot of[LAY] people are very proficient in these skills. Bama Charlie,
I'm not aware of a single belittling incident, or inappropriately addressing members of this forum. If you disagree, I should be made aware of the circumstances, so that it doesn't recur a second time. Thanks for the assurances that some assistance could be found around Mobile, Ala., during musical excursions. I remember a well organized "MASSBASH" that was held here in Pittsfield, MA on April 10, 1983. We were delighted to learn more about FREDDIE HART'S former band at that time. They performed with Freddie's original steel guitarist, J.D. WALTERS. They told the story about their bus breaking down in front of the WYOMING MACHINE CO. After receiving assistance there, they changed the name of their group, by naming it after the same name as the W.M.Co.
They went from the "EASY LOVING'' "HEARTBEATS" to a band called THE WYOMING MACHINERY CO. They played that rainy day, to a packed crowd at The former J.W.'S on the Pontoosuc Lake front. The Pittsfield Fire Dept. had to close the doors, due to the packed attendance. The bar was lined with free popcorn, and many others of notability were there, including Country Joe Casey, and steel guitarist Peggy Green.

I had an aunt[bless her heart she's gone' But will allways remember a saying of hers] When someone can't remember what they have said, she called that having a rabbit-tailed mind. [very short] As far as Frederick Segrest [AKA Freddie Hart] is concerned you can't tell me much,Have know him and his family for years,He grew up two streets over from where I am right now. He's a Phenix City native,Not long ago we had a big shindig and named a street for him.Like me he's getting up there, but can still do a good show. Bo Legg,
Freddie Hart's recording of "MY HANGUP IS YOU" is about as good as it gets. They're "oldies" but "goodies". That acoustic guitar that he recorded "EASY LOVING" on, could have been purchased through a country newspaper that I worked for, in the 80's. I was advertising mgr. at the time. I've never heard who has the guitar at this time. It had a price tag of $2,500.00 at that time. Did you visit New England recently? (Just curious)
