Ascertaining the moodiness involved in various perspectives in retrospect, strongly supports the notion that to speak our minds, as it were, in terms of articulation, may result in getting fewer responses from members across the board. The superficial hazards of telling IT like IT is, awakens outcries from those who as a rule are complaisant.. remaining at a safe distince from disputatious discussions. If we can't comment facetiously about the most respected steel guitarist the world has known, others who apply their efforts to such beliefs, should explain in no uncertain terms their thoughts on such activities. Just my 2 cents worth!

Considering recent market activities, your two cents worth is now valued at .9 cents. Withholding commissions on that takes another bite, and this mornings opinion markets, being down down down, your original two cents worth now has a value of .8 cents.

Probably better to withdraw your opinion and keep it to yourself rather than have it devalued further.

Stephen,

I've sparred with your incongruities on occasion in past responses. You left yourself wide open a few times as I recall. Your signature signifies constant disparagement. It's all about knowing what to expect from negative counterirritant personalities.. thank you.

Wow, Bill, are you really that humorless?

I might add that your recollection is faulty at best.

Sheesh.

And the sig line is a quote from a song by Jerry Jeff Walker. You're the single person who thinks it is disparaging. Though, considering your insecurities and self importance, that doesn't surprise me.

:| At least use a dictionary if u are unsure of how to use "spellchecker".The word is spelled ..complacent....the willingness to be placated....in your prodigious efforts to expound by way of verbose loquacity, you could at least get the spelling correct...ya think?

Stephen,

Your name is misleading, much like the wolf in sheep's clothing.. A person might think of Stephen Foster, or adornments in sterling silver, interlaced with precious jewels. What's in a name? It means nothing! A rose by any other name... very contrary as you may know from taking the low road more than the average responder.

Storm,

Recheck the correct spelling, and then come to terms with your own carelessness. My spelling is correct! I beg your pardon!

:) I concede Bill, although archaic, and derived from the French term ,your spelling is acceptable.Although the spelling I used, is the more widely accepted form and used much more in modern text (according to Websters Dictionary). See, we all learned something, no? Have a swell day Bill ;-)

Bill, as we drift even further from the original topic, your spelling is correct but according to this, your usage of the word may not be.

What is the difference between complacent and complaisant?
Complaisant means 'eager to please' and 'showing a cheerful willingness to fulfill others' wishes'. Complacent is quite the opposite, 'being pleased with oneself; contented to a fault'. However, they share one meaning, which may cause them to be confused - each also carries the sense of 'obliging, agreeable'. One could differentiate the two words by saying that complaisant is the active adverb and complacent denotes a more passive feeling. Complaisant was first recorded in 1647, deriving from Latin complacere. Complacent comes from the same Latin word, but is not found in writing until 1660.

Storm,

Thanks for acknowledging how easy the English language at times becomes problematic, especially in my situation while trying to expand my vocabulary on a gradual basis through these exchanges. Discussions involving the studies of furthering advancements of the pedal steel guitar has created more interest than I ever imagined possible.

Barry,

ECSTASY brought about by the effects of splendrous sustained harmonies, all of which are hidden within the musical instrument known as the pedal steel guitar. Electronics have made it possible to exemplify the amplified melody lines to a greater extent. My question concerns my curiosity about how much further the exploration of sounds yet to be heard will eventually ensue.

Are you wondering if folks will dig deeper into musicical styles and expand the boundaries of where the pedal steel is heard? Or, if the expansion into digital enhancement will overtake the tactile nature of the instrument? Or something like that?

Bill has the same right to write down what he thinks, and present it as a topic as anyone else here.. Don't like the topic?... stay off it..

Think he's a nut?... Don't respond...

Some people are turning this forum into an unhappy place to be, and thats something it NEVER was.

From what I have seen, the topics on the SGF are moving slower than they used to. Perhaps because of all the nastiness and negativity that has crept in last few years... People are no longer participating as much.
Lighten up on the guy a little.

Please, if you can't keep the discussion civil, stay out of the thread.

Barry... its just not worth it... There are so many wondeful people here. Why argue with anyone?
I guess I am getting old, and rarely feel anger toward anyone these days..
When I think about the members here, ALL of them, my first thought is this..
I am sorry I will never meet them in person, really sorry... I feel nothing but good vibes here, and its been that way for over a decade.
It pains me to see anyone ridiculed on these pages. bob

Bob, I'm sorry to see you view others opinions as ridicule. Without dissenting opinions, forums like this just become mutual admiration societies, IMO. :\
