got my room reserved. Look forward to the new location. I agree Roger, Bill works hard to make this show a success. I hope all those that have been unable to attend previous shows are able to make it this time. The jam is always a highlight for me. And we must brag we have some of the best players in the biz have come from Alabama.

hotel?

Post by Joe Babb »

Has anyone else had trouble getting the Clarion Hotel to answer their phone? We made reservations last week and were supposed to get an email with confirmation # but I haven't gotten anything from them and now have tried 3 times this morning to call and no one answers.

Jack,
Thanks for pointing that out. I had missed the change of location. Hopefully, I can get the Clarion to answer to cancel my reservations. Will try the other hotel.
Joe.

Well...we really wanted to attend this show..BUT we have had nothing but trouble dealing with the GOVERNORS HOUSE HOTEL & CONFERENCE CENTER.

We tried to place our reservations over the weekend but the computers were down, so they took my name and told me to call back in a couple of days. We tried for the last 2 days to confirm our reservation but no one would answer the phone. We tried at different times of the day to call...same result. I FINALLY got them to answer the phone just a few minutes ago and the man that answered the phone had very broken english and could not understand what I was requesting. I had to tell him at least 4 times the dates that we wanted to stay. He kept repeating a different date...ok...by now I'm getting steamed. Then he asked my name and I spelled it very clearly and slowly to him and he still wasn't comprehending. I also mentioned the Steel Guitar show and rates and that really confused the hell out of him. I finally told him to forget it!

I already took a day of vacation on Friday so I could be there for the jam, so I guess I took it for nothing.

Maybe the show should have stayed at the Clarion. Hey, somebody video the show and I'll watch it on You Tube!

Sorry for the rant but, I was looking forward to a nice weekend.

Hey Bruce,

I certainly understand your frustration, but I'm sure everthing will be worked out, and I hate to see you miss out on what I know will be a fun weekend. I'll bet if you give them a call now you'll be taken care of.

See ya there,
Jim

Joe Babb. You will have to dispute the charge on your credit card . The Clariton is gone and they can't assist you. I had to do the same thing. There is problems with the Governors house phone answers, with people not knowing what they are doing. Let me know your plans and I will personaly take charge and get your room booked.
Bruce, I apoligize for all you have been through!! Please do not change your plans. Tell me what days anf kind of room you need and I will make your reservations. I was not aware of the problems until last night. If anyone else is having problems e-mail me at billcook1014@gmail.com .

Just got call from Governors House. When calling for resverations mention Beverly Woods Group. Steel Guitar Show.

The room problem at the Governors House Hotel should be solved. If you have any problems mention Beverly Woods Group and Alabama Steel Guitar. If that doesn't work ask for Beverly Woods. For all the people who had reservations with the clariton, you must call your credit card company and tell them what happened and dispute the charge. You can't get any help from the Clariton as they are no longer in business in Montgomery. Sorry for all the inconvenices!!

Hey Bill,
We think we are OK because Sharon was able to make reservations at Governors House after someone pointed out the change in hotels. But, we don't have a confirmation number so hope we don't have problems when we get there. We have already flagged our credit card company to the potential problem from the Clarion.
Looking forward to the show.
Joe & Sharon
ps Bill, we will need a table as we have some T-shirts for sale.

The Hotel does not give confirmation numbers!! If you made reservations, you are good to go. As an extra security measure , I have 25 rooms blocked in my name. Don't worry about confirmation numbers!! I will be there Friday in case anyone has a problem. Thanks,
Bill

Hey Bill,

The Friday night jam session has been a big part of the weekend the last few years. Informal, and lots of fun, so bring your guitar and your bass.

See ya there,

What a great lineup you have for the show Bill. I had a small problem with getting my room reserved, but I surely will be there even if I have to stay somewhere else. I don't plan on being denied the opportunity to be with my friends and hear the great talent you have on board for the Alabama show!! Thanks for all you do in putting this show together.
