(Vincent) Starry Starry Night as played by...
This is one of my all-time favorite songs that I'm recording on a new CD. I thought I would share where I am right now as I am practicing and putting the arrangement together.
For those of you interested in my tuning methods, I am posting some new material soon.
Here is the tune....Vincent (Starry Starry Night)

WOW, nice!!! I've loved this song this song as an instrumental ever since I heard Chet Atkins play it a long time ago.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

One of my favorite tunes ever since I heard Chet Atkins play it in concert. You do it well, Zane. Thanks for sharing.

Theresa - Paul calls "Vincent" a Country song. I think of it as sort of a Folk song so I guess maybe there is a connection somewhere down the line.
Now Jerry Hayes - that sounds like a challenge! I'll see what I can do but I'm getting lazy I guess.....really loving these ballads right now.

Zane, getting back to that "speed" challenge. You're one of my favorite players and I love the wonderful tone and all of the Jackson but can you do the speed picking on it as well as you do on your BMI(s)? I know you have the tracks already recorded for Orange Blossom Special and others so how 'bout some "fire" from that Jackson. I got faith in you........JH in Va.
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!

Jerry - I'm still coming with the speedy tunes!!!!
My friend David Jackson called today to tell me how much he liked this tone and playing!!!! So glad he is happy about it. That said, if any of you pickers could set behind this guitar I'm just telling you that you would be amazed at what your ears would be filled up with!!!
An old saying but definitely true...."Tone to the bone!"

Frank do you happen to have a recording of Doug playing it that you could post? or MP3? Doug lives just down the street from me. I guess I could go over and have him play it for me. I am working on the tune for my own cd and I would love to hear it.
Also, someone mentioned that Paul Franklin did this too. Anyone have any ideas if he recorded it?

Such an incredible song!
Hey everyone! I am BRAND new to the forum and glad to be here!! I am a steel guitar fan, but I cannot play it a bit...I am also a Zane King fan and not just because he's a great steel player (and he sure is).... Starry Starry Night (VINCENT) is probably my favorite that he plays, although it is VERY difficult to choose! Looking forward to enjoying reading and learning from the comments and threads here! THANKS!
