West Texas Steel Guitar Association Jam**Sunday June 5th**

Post by Larry Toliver »

Hello Fellow Steelers!
I've been talking to several of the West Texas area steelers, and it looks good for June the 5th to have our next Jam Session. Once again, we will be in the Old Senior Citizens building in beautiful downtown Merkel, Texas. I talked with Danny Letz a day or two ago, and he said he was Ready to play! Junior Knight said today that he would be honored to play again! I'm really looking forward to this jam! I've met about 3 new steel players in our gigs the past couple of months and we should have several new steelers there. Gerry Cockerell from Buffalo Gap, Victor Molinar from Seminole, and several more! Get your strings changed and your volume pedal pots potted and let's GEAR UP for the West Texas Steel Guitar Association June Jam! More to come SO stay tuned!

Hey Phred, Dovie & Jim,
I was just notified that the 19th is fathers day. We decided to move it to June the 5th, which is a Sunday also. If this is a problem.....let me know ASAP! If it's ok, then We Are ON!

We'll shake the dust loose in that old building again. Lots of good music and lots of good fellowship.

Hello WTSGA steelers!
I met with Junior Knight today as he was coming back from Big Spring playing with Jody Nix. He told me he would be there on the 5th. This is great news for our club, as he is A PLAYER DELUXE! Junior is a good man with a big heart, and he really has a love for the steel guitar and the brotherhood! Spread the word, and lets have a BIG Jam on the 5th. I also visited with Gerry Cockrell, and he is a dobro player who just picked up the pedal steel bug. He is excited to be there also!

Maybe Tuttle will bring his 2X4 guitar again and we will give him a slot to play it this time.

Wally, we start at 1:30, but some of us are there a little earlier. There are a couple of G2's in the club. Larry has only had his a few days. We have a pretty wide selection of guitars in our club. Ya'll come on down, bring your ax or we will loan you something to play on.

Thanks Larry and Danny, it sounds like a lot of fun, I would also love to be in your club, thanks for inviting me. My son is in baseball playoffs Saturday, if they win they will play on Sunday also so I won't know if I can come until then. We are staying at the KOA in Abilene tonight on our way home from the Oklahoma show in Tulsa. They had a great turnout and I met a lot of great guys there..

Larry,

We met on Thursday evening at Herby Wallace's booth, at the Dallas show. I'm singing in Stephenville the night before. If I can shake the cobwebs loose and get the tomato stains out of my Sunday shirt, I might try to head your direction.

Remember, our jams are family friendly and if you have something music related to sell or just show off, you are welcome to bring it. At the present time there is no charge to play or attend, however we do have a donation bucket if you'd like to help with the expenses so we can keep going. We'll have some drinks, snacks, and maybe even a birthday cake. One of our old coots is having a birthday soon.

Hey Jim Cooley,
Hope you can make it. We will have a great time. Hey Danny, I wonder who is having a birthday. See y'all there,

I added it to the Steel Guitar News blog. I couldn't find the address, though. I guess you just have to go to downtown Merkel and listen for it. ;-)

bob, you probably said that in jest, but it will actually work. Just listen for it or look where all the cars and pickup trucks are parked. Downtown Merkle ain't exactly poppin on Sunday afternoon except for us. At my hometown of Old Glory, Texas, you can drive every street in town in two minutes. Things are alot farther apart out here. That's why it is so neat to get that many steel players together at one time. And thanks for all you do to help.
