3rd Annual Canadian Steel Guitar Show

Hi Folks, This is the official announcement for the 3rd Annual Canadian Steel Guitar Show to be held here in Leslieville, Alberta on Sunday June 11/06. Confirmed players to date are Doug Jernigan, Russ Hicks, Steve Smith (The Wilkinsons, Tommy Hunter, Caroll Baker), Rob Anderson, Doug Aman as well as myself. This was an all day event last year that continued well into the evening...this year is looking to be even more fun than last year. I will add players names to this list as time allows.
Doug Jernigan will be presenting a seminar 10am sharp on Saturday June 10/06..space is limited so please let me know in advance if you plan on attending. In my opinion and many others (I am sure), Doug is one of the most knowledgeable players on the planet and any opportunity to study with him should not be missed. Hey Jeff....looking forward to the show and partaking of some of that beautiful Canadian countryside. When I used to come up there with Connie Smith and Kitty Wells it was always during the winter.

This is a great opportunity for western Canada steel players. It's happening tomorrow in Leslieville (sp?). Mounting bills prevent me from going but I would dearly love to.

Had a great time at the show. Great backup band and all the steel players were great.
Hung around for an extra day to chat with Jeff but he had disappeared. No doubt, he needed a break after the hard work that he did to plan this successful steel show.

Played Jeff's show for the 2nd. time and it went as smooth as silk. He had great organization and the vibes were good. Got to hang with my old mentor and friend Steve Smith who made our neck hair stand up. Hope Jeff paid his bills and made some scratch.

Had a great time with Jeff and the gang...met some really fine players, and the band was just super...they were ready for anything we threw their way; in my case that wasn't much but with Doug J. it was...I would be remiss not to mention their names; Derek Stremel on bass, Dave Hamilton on guitar and Chad Melchert on drums....great job, guys, and Mr. Jeff, thanks for the invite and lets do it again.

Hi All,
This is a quick note to thank everyone who particpated in this years Steel Show. As usual, the back-up band (Derek, Chad & Dave) played great and I am very appreciative of all thier hard work!...the volunteers who helped with moving guitars and working the doors etc...the sound man Dwain Sands who kept the steel up front in the mix right to the end...the emcee's, Laurie Mills and Mel Wilson...the sponsors who took a lot of the sting out of the expences and last not least, the steel players who took the time out of their busy schedules to perform on the show...Thank You!

For info: The tenative date for the 4th Annual Canadian Steel Guitar Show will be Sunday June 10/07.
