Jackson Steel Room Pictures-Dallas Show?
Do any of y'all have pictures of the Jackson Steel Room and Jackson crew at the show in Dallas this year? I love the Jackson Steel Guitar Company and all three Jacksons-David, Harry, and Dawn build beautiful steels and they're friends of mine.

Rusty has a very seasoned sound and is a great player! He demonstrated beautifully!
The guitar has good response and sustain right up the
fret board. The sound is somewhat "contained" with
much less "edge" but I surely like it. I was expecting something different.
So was that miked or does it have a built in
or internal pickup?

Roy,
My guess (and it is only a guess) is that what you are hearing on that youtube clip is just the guitar through it's normal steel guitar pickup through an amp. IMHO pedal steel guitar strings are way too thin to ever get a good acoustic only sound as I think Paul Franklin proved with his pedalbro guitars.
I often practice with no amp turned on and an acoustic pedal steel would certainly enhance that process and having those acoustic chambers on the guitar would almost surely color the tone in a way that might turn out to be very pleasing. So certainly an experiment worth pursuing but I would not expect to ever be able to play one acoustically and get good tone and volume from it.

Jay, the guitar has a somewhat different sound to it because the acoustic chamber is in some way influencing the electronic tone don't you think? I don't believe the purpose of the design was so you could play the guitar acoustically. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that what you are hearing on that youtube clip is just the guitar through it's normal steel guitar pickup through an amp.

I wasn't real impressed with the sound either. Sounded like another steel guitar to me.
Rusty did a real good job, though.

Solid like a rock
My Jackson is a beautiful sounding steel.Easiest guitar playing I have Ever owned.
Some will like it,some won;t.I havn;t heard that sound but twice since 1986.
You can tell by the strengh of the sound,at both ends of the neck.It doesn;t waver at all.Different
amps and effects will be another story.
But the strength of the tone will not change.
If a person wants the old sound,I don't think it will be on that guitar.if I were not so old,I think one like that would be in my Studio(bedroom studio).I am just starting to play again.we'll see.
I would take one like that even if they Decided to stop making them. Not evry one is suppose to like that sound.
