Jim, you have way too many steels and need to lighten your load.

I'll help by taking your Legend. :D

Seriously, that is one gorgeous guitar.

Between Jim, Chas Smith and Chris Lucker there are some pretty exotic p/p Emmons here in L.A. JayDee doesn't have an 11 or 12 stringer or a Wraparound but makes do with a D10. Actually his must be pretty special too considering all the others he's had over the years and let go. If any of you guys are having a garage sale anytime soon please let me know.

Very nice, Jim. Are you gonna bring it to the next Perljam?

Yeah, Pete...there's some nice ones here in town...not to mention yours & mine.
Boo Bernstein has a couple killer p/p's...including Weldon's old laq woodneck.

JW, thanks for the new bar, can't wait to try it out.
It was good to see your face this morning, I know your dealing with alot of issues, but I miss getting together and pickin some tunes with ya Bro!
I was down in Oceanside at "Steel Guitar Disneyland" (aka Steel Guitars of North County) yesterday picking up my Xmas present, Her name is Blanca!!!
Ext E9th with my normal 3/4 set up. Jim Palenscar and I think she's about a 78' vintage and she sounds as good as she looks!!!! Tone to the bone and rings like a bell. I get to take her on stage this Sunday @ The Cowboy Palace in Chatsworth with The Hollywood Hillbillies and I can't wait to cut her loose with the band. We play 6-10, so come on down and see just how big a grin I can get on my face!!! LOL:)
Skip, I'm thinking she's gonna get the call for PerlJam, so you can check her out in person real soon.
And, thanks for taking the photo's JW!

WAY too many. Pretty soon the steel guitar hoarding police are gonna take you away. You better give me your legend (or the Mullen) before it's too late.

I agree with you Mike, way to much GAS. The man needs to go see a doctor. I can see looking for that perfect Steel Guitar, but obviously he hasn't found it yet. Once you find it, that should do it. You can only play one at a time anyway. You'll notice that he hasn't bought a Rains, as of yet. Perhaps he is contemplating a repair shop closer to us. Time will tell.

JW, your forgetting that my Carpsteel was made right there in the Rains shop!!! So as far as I'm concerned, that counts as a Rains! LOL It's lighter that your Rains and it's black too!!!
I did see a doctor, Dr. Palenscar and he said I should take 12 strings and call him in the morning!

Retraction Rendered

Post by John Walden »

I stand corrected. A Carpsteel does qualify, sort of. But..... get a grip. You have a sickness. Perhaps, the 12 step program, ( not 12 string either ), might be of some help.

John, we need to help Jim. We need to have an intervention for him, and make him understand that he has a problem and the only way for him to get over it is to give both of us one or 2 of his steels.

I'll take the Legend and the Mullen.

Jim, we're taking them away because we love you. We'll love you even more after you give us the steels.

Yes I'm jealous as he** about it too. I played this steel many times at Pali's shop. It's got that 1rst fret growl that everybody talks about. Congrats Jim, she's a beauty!

That is a great idea, Mike. An Intervention ! But... before we go off half-cocked, perhaps we should give this young man a little time to see the error of his ways. If, by the time of the 2011 Pearl Jam, Jimmy is still in the grips of darkness, The 2011 Pearl Jam will work out nicely. Think about it Jim.........

Sweet axe!.... Very purdy.

Don't listen to these guys Jim. It's impossible to have too many steel guitars. 8)
