I just saw them last Friday here in Buffalo with Haggard. The great Gary Morse on steel guitar. They certainly did leave their mark.

I'm sure they are both multi-millionairs. I wonder if they ever provided or contributed to any Pension and Medical benefits for the sidemen that made them sound so good. Just a thought.

I read once that Merle did something like that.I know nothing of B&D's arrangements along those lines, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had made at least a token gesture. In any event,we can all be pretty sure every one of those players not only made pretty decent sideman money, but that their B&D connection has translated into a whole lot of job offers.
Billy's concerns are well founded....If not for the B&D crew, then for all the local players who played the B&D catalogue in the local bars and not with B&D.

EDIT:Not quite sure about Kix,but Ronnie is likely to get back out on the road sooner or later. When he does,he'll need players.Who's he gonna call?

All the sidemen that played on their records got contributions to their medical and pension funds via the union recording agreements....

Thousands of private sector employers offer pension and medical plans, so what's the problem? :?

As John Macy pointed out, it's probably already been covered. Pointing to B&D's personal fortunes is what Bill Hatcher found aggravating, and I hear him. If their pensions are covered, they're covered; end of story. Kix and Ronnie's wealth shouldn't be a consideration.

For real. I seriously doubt this is the last we'll hear from these guys.

I hope I'm wrong.

ronnie has a great voice as long as he's not singing a dumb song. we played a festival in switzerland and they were there right when boot scootin boogie came out. troy klonzz was playing steel. i'd met troy before when he got me backstage in tahoe to eat all the goodies roy clark had.

at that same gig i remember standing next to leroy parnell as we both looked up at the swiss alps from this chalet and said 'wow'!

I can't believe some of you. Do you always have to be so negative.

Don't worry for them, Joe. B&D are laughing all the way to the bank - the ultimate revenge on us negative types. ;-)

I'm kind of sad to see them break up act.

Same here Bo, their road band is just an absolute killer band, and Kix Brooks wrote some nice songs every now and then.

I'm a fan. I've got all of their CD's. I think that some of their tunes are really fun on steel. "Next broken heart" is a song my band still does.

I've played and sang "Workin' On My Next Broken Heart" at several steel shows.

Way to go Brett.

We do several B&D tunes. One on the list right now is 'Ain't Nothin 'Bout You'.

Another song they did that had a great steel solo is one called "Every River". On the 2002 CMA Awards, Brooks & Dunn performed that song and Troy Klontz was playin' a cow colored Derby steel.
