Hi Ron, yes, Jethro Tull and 'It's A Beautiful Day' opened for the Who on that show, July 7, 1970. I remember it well! Tull was a fairly new band at the time. I think this was their first US tour. Tanglewood had rock shows in '69 and '70 and later decided to book only 'softer' rock acts like James Taylor, Chicago, Ronnie Raitt, etc. They couldn't handle the huge, rowdy crowds. ;-)

That's why I still live in the summer of 1970!

...all that for probably a fiver... :whoa:
...only $3

of course, most jobs for young people payed about $2.50 an hour back then. 8)

Here's a poster for the 1970 show:

Here's a poster for a 1969 show. I have this poster on the wall of my studio. It was a great show. Note the opening act... a young B.B. King. And the price: $3

'69 was a good year for concerts: Zeppelin, the Who, Woodstock, and a lot more that I can't remember ;-)

I knew you would say that... a buck apiece! aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrggggg!

I remember how 'bad' prices were getting when I had to pay $3 to see an LA Forum show of Black Sabbath and Yes in '72.
Flipside, I was lucky to see a bunch of legendary bands like The Doors or Steppenwolf and such for free as a kid, so it all evened out. Plus, my long favorite band (besides Neil Young/Crazy Horse) these days www.mermen.net usually play dirt cheap.

My 'rock concert' years were about 1968 through '72. By '72 I had a pedal steel guitar and I started listening to country music: Loretta, Merle, Hank, Patsy, etc... and within a few months I was playing 5, 6, and 7 nights a week in house bands. The transformation was complete! 8) The rock concerts are a nice memory from my teenage years, but nowadays you couldn't pay me enough to go to one... well, maybe if you paid Enough.
