Emmons LLIII pedal travel adjustment screws

Return Stop Problem/LG/Derby

When I got my Derby, the first thing I noticed was that one of the pedals would hang at the top. This was my fix and first mod(Pedal Stop Mod). Problem solved. The material is 1/8" x 1" aluminum stock held on by just one of the neck screws(longer then original). I check it often, never been loose. It just slips under the stop screws after they have been back out a bit.
Thumb tacks also would have worked under each return adjustment screw... But that would have been tackey!
Effect on tone? Wouldn't know, ain't got much.

Pedal Stop Mod...
Dave, that may not be of use to you, but I've made three of them, one for myself and one each for a couple Derby playing friends. A quick fix that worked. Any hardware store should have the aluminum, Lowes did.

I got mine from Dick! Couldn't bear the thought of that screw digging into the bottom of my cabinet.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems that if you use a 1" thick piece of flat-stock under the pedal return stop that it will effectively shorten the amount of overall pedal travel available.

Absolutely right Tony, If you use a one inch thick piece of anything in there, you'll have to rip out the cross rods to fit it in. But a 1/8 inch thick piece will fit nicely, in a Derby anyway!

Tony and Dick, I have no way of posting pix. Sorry about that but I believe the Forum members have a good idea of what the problem is. I would think there are many more guitars out there with this same
problem. I first thought it was "that thing" with the 6th string. First it and the third string would be sharp then flat then sharp then flat. It's not something that was done at the Emmons factory. This guitar has been refinished two times and four knee levers added since it left the factory. Emmons has no record of the guitar. Ron thought it may be a P/P
conversion but I don't believe so.

Dick, I purchased a 4'X3/4" X 1/16" pc of alum from the local Ace Hardware today. Now comes the hard part. I would like to get it in place in one peice but that would involve some other things that I may not want to get into. I better think about this a little more. Does the left endplate on the Emmons LLIII come off without removeing anything else? Can someone answer me that?
