There is a good article on the folk - blues musician Ben Harper featured in the December issue of Guitar Player.
Ben has a good collection of lap guitars... He basically plays on an amplified Weissenborn.
He's featured on the cover with his custom Asher, electric lap guitar.

I just received my copy of theGuitar Player magazine Mike mentioned. It's a very good article about Ben Harper and his guitars. There is also an article about his techniques and tunings (DADDAD is one of his main tunings).
There's also a short story about Emily Robison of the Dixie Chicks and her Dobro® playing (including a nice shot of her playing Dobro®
. All around one of the better issues they've had lately.
