Good question; difficult for this ole guy to attempt to explain. But I'll do my best. At least I've got my heart in the right place.
On SGR, C6th, Key of E, try this first for the first part of the second chorus because the second part is different. Ok?
On the 4th fret, first string, using the thumb, pluck that string, followed immediately by another pluck using the middle finger then LIFT the bar, picking that same string now with the pointer finger.
Then move up to the 5th fret, and repeat this maneuver; then move up to the 7th fret and repeat again, doing the same on the 9th fret. You'll have to listen closely to the record for proper ACCENT during the picking exercise. I believe he accents that first note in each position.
I think that's correct, but you have to realize that there are two things that you lose real fast when you hit 60. The fist thing is your memory and, ahhh, I can't recall what the second thing is. Oh well.
Practice that over and over again, until you've got it, then EMAIL me if you care to take the next part of the phrase as it gets more difficult for me.
Remember, the coming back down hill is a completely different picking exercise so get this part of the initial phrase down accurately before you attempt to move on. OK?
If this helps you....get in touch. We can go on from there. P007i@msn.com

HONESTLY NOW! I DID NOT post that response twice. After my post, I got A SERVER ERROR notice. That's all when I checked here, there it was posted twice. I really, really didn't do it. Listen also to Jerry Byrd's HILO MARCH and you'll hear the same affect.
