Been playing S-10D's last few years or so. Have switched around and used most everything out there at one time or another. I tend to use the type guitar that best fits into the environment I'm in. I like C6th but don't get to play it much. Most folks I play with want the E9th sound, which is fine. For any C6th I just lower the E's and have most everything there except the bottom three C6th strings. I like the early Nashville Sound of E9th with such players as Hughey, Myrick, Rugg, Jernigan, Garrish, Emmons, Day and Green. I use a S-10D Rains, red mica, 3 & 5, Bl-910 pu, Emmons set up. Built by Gary Carpenter in Ft. Worth. My favorite guitar I've ever had.

I play a S10 right now.... and am in the process of purchasing a SD10 Jackson.. although the dimensions are exactly as my S10 Carter right now.. which makes me very happy... my Carter weighs in at 28lbs and truthfully I covet a little more weight... it annoys me a little that my whole guitar moves when I really go for a knee lever...
The Jackson Pro IV I am looking at it 36lbs.. which I think will be just enough weight... and although it is TECHNICALLY a SD10 I think, like I said it is almost the exact dimensions of my current Carter... with a thin pad instead of just the bare wood that I am putting my arms on now with the Carter S10

will keep you updated!

Still doing it
Mike: still doing the old MSA S-12U, E9th/B6th, somewhat like the old one you just sold recently, only black. I have some triple raises on it & it plays just fine.

Carter U12. This is all the weight in a guitar I'm willing to tolerate.
Gives me all I need and more. I use the B6th aspect of the tuning as a "variation" within my E9th playing, just to surprise the ear of the listener and add a bit of unexpected jazzy or bluesy spice to a tune.
I agree that holding that RKR lever in constantly to get to the B6 side of things can be a chore, but I normally don't play purely in B6th for extended periods. I prefer to view the E9/B6 as one big tuning.
So much depends on the context of the music and the interpretation you want to give to it.

First,an MSA Classic D-10,then a Sho-Bud Super Pro,and then a Mullen S(+1/2)-10 for the weight advantage and hardly ever playing C6.Now I have a Mullen RP U-12 and am starting to get some use out of the B6 tuning.
Still have the other three, but I haven't yet learned how to switch back and forth between 10 string spacing and 12 string spacing,so they're pretty much in mothballs.
