Outlaw, Outcast or Follower, which are you ?

Post by Bill Dobkins »

Outlaw: meaning refusing to follow the norm.
Out cast: Singled out for trying something new.
Follower: Going down the strait and narrow because thats what everyone else does.

It is easy to play the steel guitar. Playing so that the audience finds it pleasing is the difficult act.

Outlaw. I try hard to avoid playing steel guitar cliche music. But there is a certain amount of Charlie Davidson in me as well.

I don't do well following. Most people that know me would be afraid to single me out.
I enjoy being a outlaw grandma!

I learned more than forty years ago: Never commit a misdemeanor while in the process of committing a felony. (Like don't smoke a joint at the stoplight in the center of town while driving a stolen car.) So I guess that makes me an old outlaw!

Besides -- most people do most things wrong most of the time. It must be really rough being a follower!
I give music lessons on several different instruments in Cambridge, NY (between Bennington, VT and Albany, NY). But my true love is pedal steel. I've been obsessed with steel since 1972; don't know anything I'd rather talk about... www.barryhyman.com

Depends what the 'norm' is. If the 'norm' means playing country music on pedal steel, then you could say I'm an outlaw in the worst way. :D
