Congrats, Mickey! I've got a thread started in "Stories" about my visit to the Dallas show and I'll be posting photos of your new G2 fresh out of its case for the first time in the Mullen room. :) And, the big smile on your face seeing your guitar for the first time.

Are your E9 and C6 necks really swapped? I've thought about trying that, but never did.

Yes Jim, I put a low G# and E at 11, and 12 on the E9
On the C6, string 3 is the G, 2 is a D, and 1 is F...Very way cool!

Okay, I gotcha now. I read it that you had swapped necks ala Curly Chalker. Instead you were talking about the "standard" extended tunings with extra strings on the bottom of the E9 tuning and on the top of the C6 tuning.

My D-12s are set up exactly the same as yours. Reece and some other have a D at 1 and a B at 2 on their C6 instead.

lots of other great harmonic uses

Look's way cool Mickey! I'm sure the answer to my next question will probably be, "if you have to ask...it's too heavy"...but I have to ask....How heavy is it?

I'm sure it's less than my D12 (actually 12+11) Dekley.

I have 11 strings on my C6, because after alot of experimentation with what to put on the first string(F, A, or B?), I found that for me the brilliance of the D note that Buddy came up with, and is now standard, is it's location as the outside string. YMMV

Have fun! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Meow.

Mickey, it's gorgeous, and I'm green with envy!

Like Rick Schmidt, I had that D and F for strings 1 and 2, but for now have removed the F, makes it easier to grab the D note. Still have the G below the D, I like having that string there, the tuning doesn't seem to go high enough without it. So I play a 12/11 like Mr. Schmidt.

So of course I have to ask: gauged rollers on that beauty? No? Really???

:?

When are you flying to LA to show it off and have an A/B comparison between our Mullen D-12's???

I just added a LK-forward, designed by me, crafted by Jim Palenscar, it's great to have one more set of changes, but I've got to find a way to make it easier to push. We're considering adding a helper spring, that might do the trick. Defying the laws of physics is no easy matter!

Anyway, nya nya nya, Mickey, I now have more knee levers than you, my baby is 9 pedals, 10 knees now.

Truetones or Alumitones pickups?

Post by JR Ross »

Mickey
Did U get the truetones like you and I usually use or the new Alumitones? The alumitones (which are I have Only heard on the Internet) are the only ones that I feel come close to Jerrys truetones [/img]

Johnny I may be headed your way this week or next and will be happy to bring "the beast" to chow down on your D12.As for the rollers...Nope..
I wlll be posting the copedent as soon as I compile the data on a spreadsheet!!
As for pickups...Mullen stock. I do have an Alumitone, and 5 others that I am switching around...but the Mullen pickups works fine in this guitar.
Shes a Signature model, So i have 1 piece headstock/roller assemblies..
I am seriously considering replacing my S12 with a new signature model with the the Royal Blue Lacquer Mica...Im so bitten!

Mickey, what are advantages to the 1 piece headstock/roller? Does that mean keyhead and roller bridge are a single piece?

Yes John they are...and being the skeptic I am I wanted to see if it made any difference on my standard G2...so i ordered one to replace it and see...My D12 does sound fuller and more robust, and I want to know if this is a factor...i will certainly let you know what i find...BTW..they're interchangeable on your guitar too...Peace!...Mick

Correction for Mickey. The Del Mullen Siganture G2 features are only available on the D.M G2 guitar and are not interchangable with other Mullen guitars previously built.

Hey Mickey

How many " blue" guitars do you own now ?

That must be your favorite color. Congratulations on the D12.

My SD 12 G2 has all of the strings that I care to pick. I have owned it for 2 years now and it's been a great guitar.
