Mike,on the Royal Precision, I've heard of a lot of people going to the 10-1 and liking them. The single coils on the G2 sound really good. If I had to go hum buckers, I might give the 705's a try.

Standard G-2 pups

Post by Alan Harrison »

My Pre G-2 has the standard G-2 wide mount pickups and I wouldn't change them out for anything. They sound Great.

10-1's all the way, love it, love it. Not any problems at all, and great tone, I think.

Mike, I still have the single coil that came out of my Mullen if you're interested. I put a black banded 705 in it and liked it a lot better. I also have another one of those if you're interested in it.
Let me know.

Take care,

Tim

I just started digging around here in my studio and found a George L SS-10. I think they're like a 10-1 with a stainless steel blade. A tad brighter than a 10-1, but not as bright as an E-66. Let me know if you're interested in any of those.

My early 90's Mullen S-10 came with an E-66. I never liked the tone, so I changed it out with an Emmon's single coil that I had from a push pull. Both guitar's now sound better.

Bill, did you have to cut down the size of the Emmons PU? I thought the Mullen guitars previous to the G2 used narrow mount pups.

Roger,

I can't remember, it's been so long. If I did, it wasn't too much effort. I may possibly have had to drill new mounting holes in the pickup base also. I'll try and look next time I get that steel out of storage. The Emmon's single coil pickup really gave some zip to the Mullen. Without it, it was sort of uninspiring tone wise.
