Peterson StroboStomp 2 presets

I apologize b/c this is kind of a repeat from something I posted on someone else's thread earlier this week.

I just upgraded from the StroboStomp (1) to the StroboStomp 2, mainly because of its PSG tuning preset. Here's what I'm wondering, though - are the pedals and knee levers preset as well, or just the open strings? I haven't had enough time to play with it recently to figure it out on my own, so I'm taking the lazy route and asking y'all.

I mean, isn't it true that in tempered PSG tuning, the cent adjustments on, say, a D# on an open string 2 are different from that on an D# created by an E-lever-lower on strings 4 and 8? Or an open F# string versus a raised-via-C-pedal F#?

Hi John,
the tuner is not able to distinguish if your D# is played on open string 2 or a E » D# lever string 4. How should it tell?
There is a difference in the settings though between the two Es (high and low octave) but these clearly are two different notes being one octave apart. And each note can only be programmed once.
Therefore I assume that only the open strings or pedal/lever changes, that don´t come twice can be programmed and distinguished.

I take the Stomp-2 to tune my open strings and do all pedal and lever tunings by ear.
Works great for me!

Exactly my point. So which D# would it be tempered to? Plus 2-cents D# on the E lever, or minus-4 cents on the open string? It's most certainly the open string, of course, meaning there is no E lever preset setting. But this begs the question of whether there are presets for other KLs and pedals which sound other pitches not found on the open strings, like the Fs on the F lever.

Thanks, Kevin. I've scoured the Peterson forum - perhaps I'm missing it. Doesn't seem to be anywhere in the literature that came with the pedal, either, or on their online support docs. I was just seeing if anyone here knew without my having to register there -- I'm hoping to avoid joining yet another forum - lol.

I have the same unit, the same question came up some time ago, so I don't even know where to find the thread. Short answer: yes, you can use the sweetened tunings to tune the pedals also. I had set up my own user preset for the pedals, someone in the know came on and said they're set up, I tried it and it seems to work for me. I use the E90, which is the OLD Newman settings. Still works for me, I still am not out of tune on recordings. Don't want to open that can of worms, but try it once. If you don't like the pedal tunings you can always set up your own preset. Hope this helps.

Hi John,
I usually harmonic my 7th string at the 19th fret and tune the C# note. That's my solution for the 2nd F# string.

I finally tried to register and log on to the Peterson forum, and once I did, it wouldn't grant me permission to post any thing or reply. Ha! Also, never got the confirmation email it said it sent me multiple times. So no luck there.

Michael - YES, of course. I'll just set up a user preset for the levers and pedals. No idea why that hadn't occurred to me. This is especially odd since I used personal user presets on my old SS-1 to tune my PSG open. Duh. (Though I had the same problem there - with 2 D#s and F#s.)

User preset is the way to go. But, if your using either of the sweetened E9 tunings, try tuning your pedals and see how they come out before you go to the trouble. I believe someone took the old Newman settings and set the pedals/levers also. For example, the E-F lever is set quite flat in the Newman settings and it sounded right to me with the 'Stomp setting.
